This is a picture of a panda laying on a block of ice ... why? Because panda's have thick fur and are hot.  And, it has cooled down this week!!  We did spike once in the 90's but that same night it dropped down to low 60's!  The rest of the days have been kind of warm but with breezes which has made it much more bearable.  It almost rained once too so the clouds were thick but nothing fell which was sad.  I hope this is a turn-around now into our Fall/Winter and not a tease.  I've seen it before, one week nice and chilly, the one right after, "just kidding, here is your heat again!" Curse you climate change! Curse you!

Weekly Update:
I was at Costco the other day and one thing I sure do miss, the polish hot dog they use to sell at the food court.  Their regular hot dog is OK but nothing was better than the polish.  They do not even sell them anymore as a package which I sometimes would pick up.  I wonder why they got rid of it altogether?  So I had to settle for a regular hot dog and it was fine, not as filling with the polish as it was always too big for the bun they put it in and that was just perfect.

At the movies:
Its cold at the top this week as Abominable takes the crown with a 20.9 million opening.  Slightly above expectations and a good number for a non-seasonal time frame.  Holding ground at #2 is "Downtown Abbey" with another 14.5 mil as its now limited audiences have seen the film already.  Drop down to #3 is "Hustlers" with an extra 11.5 mil and it may break that 100 mil cume but could take some time.  Drop down to #4 is "IT Chapter Two" with 10.4 mil as it is now inches away from 200 mil cume, could get that in the next 10 days.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Ad Astra" with 10.1 mil as this space film is now lost in space.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Judy comes in at #7 with 3.1 mil.  Had a much lower than anticipated screen count being shy of 500 but the per screen average is also lackluster.

Another week, another heatwave. At least the night's continue to remain cool which is great.  I tend to sleep with all the upstairs windows open and just before going to bed, downstairs as well.  Then as soon as I get up, I open downstairs again till about close to noon (when it starts warming up again) to try and capture that cooler air for the rest of the day.  My AC is still not fixed and I have talked to about two agents from the home warranty company who said they will reach out to the AC company.  But nada ... for a company who has the word "heating and air" in their title one would suspect they would always have parts and be ready for all kinds of jobs.  That is like going to a restaurant named "Tacos" and well, guess what, we are out of tacos.  How do you not prepare for such things?  I just don't know.

Weekly Update:

Aaaaah what happened this week.  It felt like my week was busy busy busy and I had a lot to do.  But I guess when I go back and look at the calendar it was fairly empty, just felt full with work.  I guess you always are busy doing something but how much of it is scheduled compared to just "busy" work?  I am still on the life-long project of de-cluttering but I am happy to see I have used my recycle bin at least 3 weeks in a row, that gives me a sense of things leaving the house and hopefully less are coming into the house!

At the movies:
A new number one is crowned this weekend as Downtown Abbey takes top honors with a very nice 31 million to open.  Again never underestimated the female audience as most of the moviegoers were groups of women.  Unsure how it will do a 2nd weekend but word-of-mouth is good.  New at #2 is Ad Astra with 19.2 mil and very close to expectations.  Not a great box office for this high budget sci-fi film but overall fair.  Also new at #3 is Rambo: Last Blood with 19 mil and slightly above expectations.  Also not a great number but fair ending for this franchise.  Drop down to #4 is  "IT: Chapter Two" with another 17.3 mil as it closes in on 200 mil cume and could reach that in the coming weeks.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Hustlers" with another 17 mil as it appears it will fall short of the 100 mil cume mark when it is done.

September really sucks ... weather-wise.  I can not remember just sitting in a chair or laying on the couch and sweating!  What is wrong with our weather lately?  I know the AC is broken but even when it was working and going outside, we didn't have this kind of humidity before and now we do.  Definitely seeing the affects of Global Warming and these non-believers ... remember what your weather was like a decade ago or even a few years ago.  It has significantly changed and in most cases gotten worse like with hurricanes and tornadoes. The impact and strength of just these has grown a lot let alone the frequency they occur too.

Weekly Update:
So I attended this event very last minute as I had forgotten about it!  It was the annual R2 Builders meet-up at my friend's house and there was over 150 people and over 50 different types of droids.  I can't believe I forgot till someone IM'd me asking if I am coming over (that day).  Otherwise I would have done my own thing and more than likely ... napped!  But as always it was super hot like last two times and lots of droids.  I need to finish my MSE-6 (or "mouse") droid!  It is the easiest of builds but getting the parts or the frame is proving to be difficult.  I still have the controller and the wheels, I want or need to get the shell next and then after that, anything else really!

At the movies:
No surprise at the box office as "IT: Chapter Two" holds the #1 spot earning an extra 40.7 million and now past 150 mil cume.  New at #2 is Hustlers with a big 33.2 mil opening.  Above expectations and cautious to see how it holds.  Holding at #3 is "Angel Has Fallen" with 4.4 mil more as this latest film in the franchise struggles along.  Holding at #4 is "Good Boys" with 4.3 mil as it gets closer to 100 mil but unlikely it will reach it.  Rounding off the top 5 is "The Lion King" with another 3.6 mil as it quietly purrs away.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as The Goldfinch comes in at #8 with 2.6 mil and below expectations but not surprisingly.

Yet another warm week ... some of the nights were OK but I hardly got any sleep because of the heat.  I had two fans going, even ran the house fan and still too much ... just miserable.  I tried to run the AC for about 15 minutes and then turned it back off.  I am not sure how fast condensation takes to build up but don't want to risk further damage.  I have also been taking 2 to 3 showers a day too because the humidity is higher than normal here.  The heat, the humidity ... feels like back in Florida again!

Weekly Update:

I bought this mini portable AC unit but what it really is, a mini desk fan.  I thought it might work for cooling an area a little bit and it sort of works but it is quiet.  Basically you put water in it and it soaks the fiber filter and a fan blows through the filter hoping it will be cooler air.  I have been putting cold water in it and an occasional ice cube as it melted and would drip cold water.  It works well but not great however on the flip side it was inexpensive and wanted to try anything till the AC unit is fixed.  I also tried putting water in the filter (soaked) and in the freezer.  That actually worked really well however water expands and it was hard to get the filter back inside the unit without fearing damaging it.  So, it's really a nice portable fan more than anything.  And we continue to wait ...

At the movies:

Horror takes the box office as predicted but with some low numbers than projected.  New at #1 is IT Chapter Two with 91 million to open.  Below expectations but of course a strong number for a September release.  Dropping down to #2 is "Angel Has Fallen" with 6 mil as this film struggles along.  Hanging on to the #3 spot is "Good Boys" with 5.4 mil extra and their Summer is officially over.  Still purring in at #4 is "The Lion King" earning 4.2 mil more as the lion will sleep soon tonight.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Overcomer" with 3.8 mil extra and barely hanging on.

Labor Day Edition

I actually had the day off for Monday ... amazing and what did I do?  Tried not to move as it was so hot and the AC remains broken.  I was told parts are still on order and there is at least one case ahead of mine which means someone else has been waiting longer for theirs to be fixed to?  How does a company operate with no parts in Southern California and on top of that, being an AC company?  This is such a bad way of doing business and me having to call them for an update too.  At least give me some kind of update once and awhile, leave a message or better yet, drop me an e-mail as I keep requesting they do.  Yelp isn't that influential but at least it will be one place I can vent a little after wards.

Weekly Update:

So I recently purchased this a Pizza Pass from Pieology and used it today.  Basically I paid $50 and I can get one pizza a day (original thin crust) for the month of September.  I figure by the 7th or 8th pizza it pays for itself and I start to earn back money spent on it.  Along with this pass I can get a soda for only $1 (normally $2.39 I believe) which is an offer they have on the week day's I think during certain times but it comes with the pizza pass. I plan on having a lot of pizza this month and also with this I can try different ones and variations.  I've always wanted to try the white size instead of the traditional red, this will give me that opportunity and not feel like I am risking wasting a pizza or my money.  Should be interesting ...

At the movies:

No major changes this holiday weekend as "Angel Has Fallen" maintains the #1 spot for an extra 11.8 million and with a below average drop.  It might be due to the extra day at the box office so next week it could be significant. Holding it's ground at #2 is "Good Boys" with 9.5 mil more and also very small drop.  Keeping the #3 spot is "The Lion King" with 6.7 mil as it continues it's half a billion Summer.  Another hold at #4 is "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" with 6.4 mil more.  Rounding up the top 5 is "Overcomer" with 5.7 mil extra.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just the one release which appears they cut the screen count by over 55%!  In at #14 is Don't Let Go with 2.4 mil to open and not surprising considering the reduction.
