The heat is on ... and not in a good way.  Ah how songs like that are so good and yet so long ago.  Originated from the "Beverly Hills Cop" soundtrack by Glenn Frey, such a great movie and by today's standard, a classic.  The second movie was just as good but the third not so much.  So it makes you wonder why they keep playing the 3rd one all the time on TV but not the first two?  I hope it doesn't have anything to do with how recent it because that would just be really dumb.  But the first one was the best along with the music and it is fitting right now with the temperatures we are reaching.  Still super hot in Southern California so the heat is definitely ON plus some!

Weekly Update:
I was getting gas the other day and two things I noticed lately ... a lot of the newer gas pump hoses have an extender so no matter what side your gas cap is on, you should reach it with ease.  I do see some older pumps that do not have it and you watch people struggle to get the hose over their trunk or over the roof of the car.  I even saw one person pull back out and go to the other side by making a U-turn ... they didn't realize by doing that, it changed nothing because the gas cap is still on the opposite side away from the pump.  People are amazing ... then the second thing I notice is when they undo the gas cap and then let it hang off the plastic chord onto the side of their car.  Don't they realize on the inside of the gas lid that covers the cap is a holder of some kind to keep the cap off your car?

At the movies:
Not an impossible weekend as Mission: Impossible - Fallout takes top honors with 61.5 million to open.  Right on target for expectations and word-of-mouth is very solid on this film.  Holding steady at #2 is "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" with an extra 15 mil as it climbs to reach 100 mil cume.  Big drop to #3 is "The Equalizer 2" with another 14 mil as it also tries to reach 100 mil cume but may fall short.  Hanging on to #4 is "Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation" with 12.3 mil as it passes 100 mil cume but its Summer will quickly come to an end.  Rounding off the top 5 is Teen Titans Go! To the Movies with 10.5 mil and short of expectations but not surprising.

It's still hot!!! WHY OH WHY ... the humanity and humidity!  What is wrong with this weather ... global warming.  The science is sound, proven and ... real!!  We still have coal and oil being burned and causing issues that will take decades to heal or fix ... if its even fix-able!  Things like this kind of damage is usually self-healing but only if you let it heal and not add to the wound.  Band-aids won't work plus none exist anyway so ... we are more-or-less screwed.  Our leadership is clueless and the money they are gaining will be useless to them in the end.  They just don't realize it doesn't go with you when you die and they are creating shorter life expediencies so ... do they not see the flaw in their plans?  Guess they don't care and simply just live in the now sine they aren't concerned for their families future.

Weekly Update:

So I went to Costco before it opened the other day (wow!) and there was already a crowd waiting.  I mean I waited in my car in the AC till it did because it was still way hot.  But driving in the parking lot to a parking spot, was this guy who was taking his sweet time moving.  So I thought I would get a bite to eat at the concession before going inside and that same guy was there holding up the line for a solid 5 minutes figuring out what he wanted.  I noticed he asked the same questions a few times because the lady gave the same answers ... so not sure if he wasn't all there or just simply not getting it.  But, morning Costco seems very different than late morning or afternoon Costco!

At the movies:
Nice surprise at #1 this week as The Equalizer 2 gains top honors with a 35.8 million opening!  Almost on target and word-of-mouth is good on this film that it should carry to 100 mil potentially.  New at #2, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again with 34.4 mil and very close to predictions as well.  Not a lot of buzz around this one like the first but should still do potentially well.  Dip down to #3 is "Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation" with 23.2 mil, just shy of 100 mil cume!  Should get that by mid to late week.  slight drop to #4 is "Ant-Man and the Wasp" with 16.1 mil extra but the majority of the fan base was in San Diego for Comic-Con seeing new materials rather than seeing this one for a 3rd time.  Holding ground at #5 is "The Incredibles 2" with an extra 11.5 mil as it gets a step closer to 600 mil cume but likely will fall short in the end.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one wide release as Unfriended: Dark Web comes in at #9 with 3.5 mil and right about expected for this film.  It might make double digits in the end ... but don't log on to find out.

HOT!!!  I had to have the AC on during the night it was so hot.  Haven't needed to do that in a long while and it was night not having to do that.  But boy it is not cooling down at all.  And where is all this humidity coming from?!  We have sky-rocketed it like 80% humidity and that is not normal for around here at all.  I guess this is our Summer but the direct heat, not the sticky heat!  Make that part go away or something ... just not our weather at all, this is Florida weather.  Says its 80 to 90 but feels way over 100 during the day and then at night it drops down to around 70 but feels at least 85 ... why? Humidity!  I don't know how these Southern states survive, especially Florida but I hear that AC is always going on over there.  What did we do before AC and even ice was around?  I have no idea and don't care to know or live it!  This is already bad enough and the cost of power!

Weekly Update:
Not a lot happened this weekend except staying out of the sun as much as possible.  Even finding shade while outside was hot because of the humidity.  There are no outside hiding places when it comes to that ... no ... where!  Its like a even spirit that finds you and then blasts a heat spell on you!  I hope this doesn't last too much longer because my electric bill will be insane.  I've noticed a few ants as well, fortunately not a lot, just a few.  They must be scouts looking for water but placed some traps so hopefully that deters them away and back to their lairs with the trap poison and share it with the rest of the colony.  I think I basically live on one big ant hill though ... or maybe we all do, the Earth is an ant planet underneath!

At the movies:
The monsters and friends cruise into #1 this weekend as Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation takes top honors with 44.1 million to open.  Slightly below expectations but not by much.  Good word-of-mouth should carry into 100 mil easy.  Big drop to #2 is "Ant-Man and the Wasp" with 28.8 mil but now over 100 mil cume.  New at #3 is Skyscraper with 25.5 mil and also below expectations.  The Rock and action films may be done?  Holding ground at #4 is "The Incredibles 2" with another 16.2 mil as it continues into the 500 range but will be shy of 600.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" with 15.5 mil more and struggling to reach 400 cume.

HOT!  That about sums it up ... This past week we saw at least Friday and Saturday with temps over 110 degrees!!  We went from 70's to 110 in a mere day, that is both crazy and unbelievable!  The nights are supposed to be in the 60's but have felt a very humid low 80's so the calculations are way off for the night.  I hated to do it but I had to, run the AC almost non-stop since Saturday since I work upstairs plus the dogs.  This is where my electric bill will not quadruple if not more ... I was doing so well too.  First I got it around $150, then I got it at $100 and then the last one was around $50 ... all out the window now!

Weekly Update:
It has been a very crazy week! And the weather didn't help at all with that!  I can't even remember what happened during the week, again.  It really has become just a blur as of late but I suppose that happens when you work multiple 12 hour days and such.  It does affect your brain and lack of sleep.  Naps ... they are now part of my daily life which I would have never been able to take one before!  Price of getting old or price of working a lot?  Or both?  But I just know even when I can sleep in I still wake up just before 5 realizing its 5 and I can sleep in so I do.  What is wrong with me?!?!  My sleeping in was till noon if if not longer!  I want to sleep in till noon again, who cares if the day is wasted!

At the movies:
Big numbers for the smallest of super-heroes this weekend as Ant-Man and the Wasp take the crown with 76 million to open for the holiday.  Hot temps in the West may have helped that a little but every bit counts!  Holding ground at #2 is "The Incredibles 2" with 29 mil extra and now just over 500 mil domestic cume.  It will be a struggle to get 600 and will likely fall just shy of that.  Dipping down to #3 is "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" with 28.6 mil as it passes 300 mil cume.  Unlikely to reach 400 but these types of film play bigger overseas.  New at #4 is The First Purge with 17.2 mil and well below expectations.  Still a good number for this type of film and franchise.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Sicario: Day of the Soldado" with another 7.3 mil as this one is soon to tap out.

4th of July Edition

Even though its only July 2nd, it is closer to the 4th than it would be for next week's blog.  So here is the July 4th Edition and so far it hasn't been very good at all.  Fireworks started going off Saturday and Sunday near by and scaring Orion to a shiver.  I tried to turn up the volume on the TV and get the thunder shirt on him but he was still so scared and wouldn't stop shaking for hours.  I know he would eventually be fine but thinking of other dogs who may be outside or loose with access to outside freaking out and trying to run from it all.  I hope people remember to secure them indoors and keep the windows shut to at least try and muffle some of the noise out.  Fireworks are fun for some but not for everyone.

Weekly Update:
DUCKS!  They came back with more babies, this time 10 of them, 11 including the mom.  They stayed in the pool all day but toward the night you can see them getting tired but unable to get out of the pool.  Was able to finally get them out but then they went through the bars of the fence into the golf course and I just hope the coyotes don't find them because that mom is no match for a coyote let alone several of them.  These babies were pretty much a day old unlink the last ones which seemed maybe 2 or 3 days old.  Well, they never came back so I hope they are safe and off on their own.

At the movies:
No upsets this weekend as "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" continues its reign at #1 with another 60 million in week 2.  Size-able drop though but still on track to potentially reach 400 mil cume.  Also holding ground at #2 is "The Incredibles 2" with 45.6 mil and now past 400 mil, rolling on to 450 which it may have that by the end of this week.  New at #3 is Sicario: Day of the Soldado with 19 mil to open and right on expectations.  New at #4 is Uncle Drew with 15.5 mil and also spot on as well this week.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Ocean's 8" with 8 mil as it passes the 100 mil mark.
