So far I am liking this Summer!  It has remained cool for another week, maybe peaked at 80 but that was it!!  I know this will not continue but I am still taking it in for as long as I can!  Nights continue to be chilly, in the 60's but enough to keep the windows open.  However, the dogs do get very loud when they hear anything outside so that wakes me up a lot having to shut them up.  So I have to close the windows and turn on the fan just so I can sleep and remain nice and cool.  Silly dogs, can't the ignore the other animals sometimes.  The coyotes have been active with their howling a bit but wonder how they will be when it gets warmer.  They should be enjoying the night as well, no?!

Weekly Update:
It has been a very busy and tiring week for me ... I am really taking naps on lunch?!  I take about two or three 10 minute naps if there is time.  I dare not take more than that because it may result in a deeper sleep that I could miss or not comprehend the alarm going off.  I just want to sleep ... when did this happen?!?  I could never take a nap before and now its not a problem, makes me sad that I can fall asleep so easily now.  I guess that is life and getting older ... le sigh.

At the movies:
Stomping into #1 at the box office is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom with a hefty 150 million to open.  Not to far off adjusted expectations and projected to potentially hit 400 mil cume.  Word-of-mouth is good on this film for this sequel.  Drop down to #2 is "The Incredibles 2" with an extra 80.9 mil as it hits the 350 mark.  Still on track to go post 500+ mill total.  Dropping down to #3 is "Ocean's 8" with 11.7 mil as it just hits the 100 mil mark!  Also dropping down to #4 is "Tag" with 8.2 mil and this game may be over.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Deadpool 2" with 5.3 mil as it also surpasses the 300 mil cume mark!

Wow, talk about chilly!  It sure has been a week of cold weather and its Summer time here!  I am not going to complain about it but just very surprised since we should be in the 80's and 90's but seem to only be in the high 70's for the days and low 60's for the night!  This is great and I wish it was like this all season but ... I know it won't last.  I hope it last for a long time but more than likely will be back to warmer temps later this week.  Oh well ... but the breezes are great and the overcast is awesome.  No rain, sure feels like we are going to get some but nothing.  Just a real sense of moisture in the air but it deceives you!

Weekly Update:
I just ordered myself an arepa maker and I can't wait to get it!  What's an arepa you say?!?  Well, its this little dough pocket from Venezuelan that you cook and can stuff with just about anything.  I made them without the maker and they worked but hard to form.  So this the maker they will be more uniformed and hopefully evenly cooked.  They aren't difficult by any stretch if you get the special Pan flower brand as its been refined for this delicious staple of Venezuelans.  I guess they stuffed them but I am happy eating them as is with some butter!  But they are similar to like a Mexican empanada or like a Chinese bao.  I guess every culture has something like this they can eat by itself or stuff it with something, almost their own version of a sandwich or hot pocket.  Well, can't wait to make them!

At the movies:
What an Incredible weekend!  Shattering all expectations, The Incredibles 2 comes in with a huge 180 million for the weekend.  Very strong word-of-mouth on this film as it is now on pace to go over 500+ at this rate.  Dropping down to #2 is "Ocean's 8" with another 19.6 mil as it starts is way to 100 mil cume, may get that by the end of next weekend.  New at #3 is Tag with 14.6 mil and almost right on target for this one.  Dropping down to #4 is "Solo: A Star Wars Story" with 9.1 mil as it crawls to reach 200 mil cume.  Rounding off to top 5 is "Deadpool 2" with another 8.8 mil as it is inches away from 300 mil and should get that in a few days more than likely.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one wide release as Superfly comes in at #7 with only 6.3 mil and no one new it even opened.

Well ... it got hot this week.  We had a lot of overcast in the morning ... is that the "June Gloom" they say? I guess it really is a thing because it was gloomy in the mornings but later it was clear and warm.  Not my favorite but the nights continue to be cool, so far.  If it can stay like this the rest of the Summer than I will be very happy with the weather.  I'm sure it won't last long but one can dream!  I just have to remember to close up the house when the weather clears and keep as much of the cool inside and not let it out or the hot get inside.  I wish my office was downstairs too but unfortunately can't move it unless I get the cable/Internet company out to move my connections.

Weekly Update:
So, my backyard is a make-shift wildlife nature area it seems like.  Aside from the rabbits you see all the time and hearing coyotes, after all it is called Coyote Hills.  There are the daring squirrels who run across the tips of the fence from one side of the yard to the other.  Then there are the gophers destroying my lawn and the ducks hanging out in the pool pooping in it.  I wish the dogs would get along with other animals but they are so protective of the house and property.  They will not share with any other animal and run them off.  I haven't seen them yet but I have smelled skunks.  At least all of these critters and such are outside!

At the movies:
They stole the box office this week .. the big screen queens at #1 is Ocean's 8 with a solid 41.5 million to open and right on target.  Good word-of-mouth should get it past 100 mil for the summer.  At a far far away #2 is "Solo: A Star Wars Story" with another 15.2 mil for its 3rd weekend.  Its rapid decline will barely get it to 200 mil.  Holding ground at #4 is "Deadpool 2" with 13.7 mil as it creeps up behind 300 mil.  New at #4 is Hereditary with 13 mil to open.  Slightly above expectations but won't carry to far forward.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Avengers: Infinity War" in its 7th week and earning another 6.8 mil as it passes 650 mil domestic cume.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one wide release as Hotel Artemis comes in at #8 with only 3.2 mil for this struggling small studio. Also, opening to expectations.

Feels like Summer is here but the nights are still cold which ... is very un-Summer like!  Usually the day is HOT and the night is warm that you can't sleep without the AC on half the time ... or if you are lucky the night is cool enough to have the window open.  But so far the nights have been pretty cold which is great! I have had the window open and curled up in the blanket or closed with the ceiling an on which also seems to do the trick.  But have been waking up to a little scratchy throat which eventually goes away ... I just hope I am not getting sick or something because that would just suck to say the least.

Weekly Update:
I have gopher(s) in my yard!  They are sure destroying the lawn but my gardener isn't able to catch them.  He says its only one gopher but I think its at least 2.  However, I don't know how gophers live so he is probably right.  Almost every day I see a small fresh mound or hole of disturbed dirt.  Traps keep being laid and moved around yet this little bugger avoids them and digs a new hole.  Why dig a new hole when the one you had originally is surrounded by grass for you to eat?  I had some mushrooms growing and I picked them and threw them in a whole one ... didn't work.  One thing I am seeing is a lot of big rocks so its clearing those out!  But its gotsa go!

At the movies:
Barely hanging on to #1 is "Solo: A Star Wars Story" with another 29.3 million as it took a huge 65% dip from last weekend.  Just about double the average drop nowadays, this film will struggle to break 200 mil at this rate.  Word-of-mouth is fair to good still but just not drawing in the numbers as everyone thought it would.  Holding on to #2 is "Deadpool 2" with an extra 23.3 mil as it closes in to the 300 mark but still has a bit of a stretch.  New at #3 is Adrift with 11.5 mil and close to projections on this one.  It may sink sooner than we thought.  Hanging in there at #4 is "Avengers: Infinity War" with another 10.4 mil as it hits 640+ mil cume.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Book Club" with another 6.8 mil and this chapter and story are about over.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Two this week struggled along.  In at #6 is Upgrade with 4.5 mil ... actually better than expected!  Next up is Action Point at #9 with only 2.3 mil. Well below expectations but not by too much.
