I love pickles, of the dill nature.  I was very disappointed when I went to the fridge, found an old jar of pickles and when I got one to eat, they were bad.  I thought these things last forever! What is funny is I have had older pickles in my fridge and they were fine.  So it must have been the brand.  These were Market Pantry (Target brand) and I guess I won't get them again.  They were a couple of years old but again, have had older ones and they were delicious.  So, I guess Market Pantry is just such an inferior brand, careful not to get those ever again!  What is interesting about pickles, they kept me from smoking!  Growing up, the peer pressure from your friends trying to get you to try smoking although I had no interest and didn't really feel pressured.  But what I did instead, I ate pickles and put the juice in a glass and drank it.  It was good!  I haven't really drank the juice since that time but I do remember it very well.

Weekly Update:
This past Thursday I helped out with the annual Minnie's Moonlight Madness at Disney's California Adventure.  It was extremely cold but fortunately we were indoors for our clue.  Our clue this year was pretty fun, teams had to put the right food in front of the Disney character.  So for example, Mulan had porridge with bacon and eggs ... it was happy to see her!  So they had about 13 guests with about 20 different food items to place.  It was pretty fun to watch them figure out who gets who.

At the movies:
Not so hidden is the new #1 at the box office!  Flying high is How to Train your Dragon: The Hidden World earning a nice 55.5 million and almost on target.  Solid word-of-mouth could take it over 150 mil overall.  Drop down to #2 is "Alita: Battle Angel" with an extra 12 mil as it tries to reach 100 mil but will fall short.  Holding on to #3 is "Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" with 10 mil as it keeps inching closer to 100 mil cume.  Coming in at #4 with a wide expansion is "Fighting With My Family" with 8 mil.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Isn't It Romantic" with another 7.5 mil and may be gone next week.

It has been freeeeeezing!!  This is not even typical winter weather for us.  Temps have been in the low 50's, I think it even hit 30 once this past week.  The days are in the 50's to 60's and again, not common for us around here!  I am curious though if we ever get a little rain again at night when it hits 30 ... will it possibly snow a little?  That would be a first ever for this area.  I have seen hail before but never actual snow.  I mean I've seen it snow, just never in Southern California so it would be a first.  Now if we can just get some rain!

Weekly Update:
I discovered cheap nuts!  So why are nuts like almonds and pistachios so expensive?  No idea but was going to buy some from Amazon because it was cheaper than in the stores like Target and grocery stores.  But ... I found out Wal-Mart has them for even cheaper!  like 4x times cheaper than Amazon.  Now I am not a fan of Wal-Mart at all but since I don't have to go into a store and got free delivery so why not.  Got my pistachios, cinnamon almonds, sea salt almonds and the thing I was craving the most ... garlic rye chips!!!  I get them all the time in cracker type mixes but never by themselves and I just want the rye chips ... AND I FOUND THEM!!!  And for cheap!

At the movies:
Big surprise at #1 this weekend as Alita: Battle Angel steals the crown with a hefty 27.8 mil and well above all expectations.  Special effects are driving this film but story seems to hold some interests.  Slight drop to #2 is "Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" with another 21.2 mil as it continues its climb to 100 mil cume.  New at #3 is Isn't It Romantic with 14.2 mil and very close to expectations.  Hanging on to #4 is "What Men Want" with another 10.9 mil and will continue to decline rapidly.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Happy Death Day 2U" with 9.8 mil and also as expected.

More rain!!!

We are actually getting some solid rain!  Last week there was at least 2 or 3 days of it and Sunday had it off and on but when it was on, it was heavy.  This coming week's forecast calls for more rain too.  We need the water!!  It has been still inconsistent and starts and stops so that is a little bit of a bummer.  But having it, even in small burst is still worth it.  The air and streets all look, smell and feel clean.  Its like nature's car wash but for everything under the sun.  We just need so much more.  OH and the mountains look amazing covered in fresh snow!

Weekly Update:
Not much happened this past week that seemed important or worth remembering ... what did I do ... what did I do.  OH, I tried to sleep, that is what I did.  I saw a really funny meme the other day that said something along the lines of regretting not taking all those naps as a child.  And now we seek to get a nap!  Siesta needs to be incorporated into our work flow.  I would sign up for that now that I know what a good solid nap can do to help with the last half of the day.  I know I have mentioned this before but it does need another reminder.

At the movies:
A new #1 this week as Lego Movie 2: The Second Part builds its way to a nice 34.4 million opening.  A bit under expectations but still a solid number for off-season films.  Appears to be on track to hit that 100 mil cume threshold as well.  New at #2 is What Men Want with 19 mil and slightly above expectations. Another new one at #3, Cold Pursuit with 10.8 mil and close to predictions.  Drop down to #4 is "The Upside" with another 7.2 mil and making that steady climb to hopefully reach 100 mil cume.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Glass" with 6.4 mil and may be the last time we see it.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as The Prodigy comes in at #6 with 6 mil and pretty much as expected.

SUPER BOWL EDITION

The end of the football season as the Los Angeles Rams took on the New England Patriots.  The Rams have recently returned to Southern California and are already in the Super Bowl!  They used to be in LA back in the day before being relocated.  Seems like a lot of teams get moved in and out of Los Angeles like the Rams and before them the Raiders.  But the game was long, kind of boring and in the end the New England Patriots won ... again!  Congrats!

Weekly Update:
I noticed the other day I was deleting some e-mails from gmail and after I clicked on the box to check mark it off, hit the delete, it then delays before deleting it.  Is it that difficult to remove an e-mail?  Most other programs delete as soon as I click it but not gmail, it is a solid 5 plus seconds.  Now that may not sound like a lot of time but sit there and count to 5 or look at your watch and wait for 5 seconds ... a long time, right?!  Why is it so slow?  And the funny part is, its not even deleting it, its just moving it to trash which you can delete it later.  So why is gmail so incredibly slow?

At the movies:
Holding on to its lead is "Glass" for a third week in a row with another 9.5 million and slowly crawling to 100 mil cume.  May get it in a few more weeks at this current pace.  Holding at #4 is "The Upside" with 8.9 mil more.  New at #3 is Miss Bala with 6.7 mil and about what was expected.  Still swimming around is "Aquaman" with another 4.8 mil as it slowly comes to an end. Rounding off the top 5 for this Super Bowl weekend is "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" with 4.4 mil more.
