So the week started VERY hot and super dry.  So dry it was below 7% humidity and I could feel everything getting chapped.  My lips, hands, nose, all of it!  My skin started to get super red and easily scabby from scratching it with no moisture.  I didn't use lotion as I should have or simply just forgot.  But then the weekend ended with some very cool, even cold weather!  I hope this finally means a change from our fire/Summer season to Fall!  Not to mention we had some more serious fires lately as well north of Los Angeles again.  You just knew it was coming with all those factors starting up: 1) hot 2) extremely dry and 3) winds which all equal fires.  And sure enough, we did in the hills that threatened many homes.  I am unsure if any where caught this time around in those fires but I certainly hope not.

Weekly Update:

This past week I feel like I spent a lot of time at the Disneyland.  Had some people from out of town visiting and though I tried to catch them both on the same night after work, I couldn't.  So I went back again the following night and hung out with different people.  It is always interesting seeing people see Disneyland for the first time.  Hearing what they liked (or didn't like) and experiences they had.  What is interesting is both of these parties came from Florida and work at Walt Disney World.  They both seemed to enjoy the more confined space of Disneyland over World and just simply walking across the way to the other park.  One thing they both did say was amazing was a tour.  It is a tour based on Walt himself and walking in his footsteps that also takes them to his private apartment in the park where he would stay and relax if he wanted to with family and friends.  Walt never got to see the completion of Disney World and thus he has only walked around and through the castle at Disneyland.  His legacy is surely more here than over there and everyone knows that and feels it.

At the movies:

Regaining control at #1 is "Joker" earning an extra 18.9 million and now close to 300 mil cume.  On track to surpass that number and should reach that in in the next couple of weeks or less.  Drop down to #2 is "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" with another 18.5 mil as it crawls to reach 100 mil cume.  Back up to #3 is "The Addams Family" with 11.7 mil more as it also tries to reach 100 mil but unlikely it will.  Hanging on to the #4 spot is "Zombieland 2: Double Tap" with 11.6 as this one is quickly tapping out.  Rounding off the top 5 is Countdown with 9 mil to open and close to expectations.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Black and Blue comes in at #6 with only 8.3 mil to open.  Below expectations however not surprising on this film.

It continued to be warm again this week but had some nice winds and very cool nights!  I am OK with warm days as long as the evenings cool down which they did.  I prefer it to be cool to colder all the time but hey, can't have it all the time.  But when it is warm, my electric bill sure goes up and now that my AC is fixed, I had to turn it on a few times lately.  I hope I kept it reasonably under control but it's been so long since I had to use it (back in mid-July) that my electric bill as of late was way under $100.  Fortunately I know we are heading into the Winter time frame and the likelihood of me having to use AC (instead may use heat which is gas) is very slim chance and that is a small bit of luck there.

Weekly Update:
I saw something recently which I haven't seen in a long time (not the actual picture to the left but very similar).  I was going to get some food and saw this car, maybe a mid-sized but not a big truck or anything, parked in the area that is left next to a handicapped spot.  I am not sure if they just didn't see the marks or are just really big a-holes but they do realize that is there for a reason.  Not for parking but to NOT block a handicapped vehicle in the event the person who needs to get out and requires assistance with a ramp or something from their vehicle.  The stupidity of some people is really amazing and how they can be so nonchalant about it too.

At the movies:
A new queen at the top as Maleficent: Mistress of Evil takes top honors for it's debut.  Opening to 36 million but well below expectations.  Word-of-mouth is fair on this one and should reach the 100 mil mark but over a lot of time.  Dipping down to #2 is "Joker" with 29.2 mil more and just shy of 250 which will be past that by end of tomorrow.  New at #3 is Zombieland 2: Double Tap with 26.7 mil and almost right on expectations!  Holding ground at #4 is "The Addams Family" with another 16 mil.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Gemini Man" with a distant 8.5 mil as this one is soon to be faded out.

Finally ... it has cooled down!  But our humidity went to almost zero and got very windy mid week which means, fires.  Some major fires started happening north of Los Angeles and continues even now.  Damage so far has been far less then previous fires however still a lot of damage on top of evacuations.  Fortunately the weather has been much cooler to deal with them but some moisture would have been helpful I am sure.  And add the wind, that adds to the complications causing embers to flare up or fly around potentially causing more fire and damage.

Weekly Update:
And talking about the wind, it has been kicking up pretty crazy a few days this week. I have heard and seen worse but still keeps you up at night.  And the backyard, looks like a tornado went through there.  Pool full of leaves and branches, the yard itself covered and a lot too.  I would say about 20% covered which doesn't sound like much but it is.  Lot of branches too which actually made it a tiny bit difficult for the dogs to walk around and go to the bathroom.  I got rid of the bigger ones but a lot of tiny ones.

At the movies:
Still laughing at #1 is "Joker" earning another 55 mil and now just shy of 200 mil cume.  Should get that by end of tomorrow more than likely as it continues it's award buzz climb to 300.  New at #2 is The Addams Family with 30.3 mil, slightly above expectations.  New at #3 is Gemini Man with 20.5 mil and right on target as expected.  Drop down to #4 is "Abominable" with 6.2 mil, won't reach too much further.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Downtown Abbey" with an extra 4.9 mil as it will fall short of 100 mil cume.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Jexi comes in at #9 with only 3.1 mil and nothing surprising here.

Some funky weather going on ... it teases us here!  It feels like we may get some rain but then nada.  I will say that the weather did not say anything about rain, just clouds but those clouds are heavy looking.  I wish we could gets some rain because we need it badly again but global warming doesn't exist as they say.  Science is fake apparently ... and we are all dumb to believe it or not head the warnings despite the evidence we see and feel.  It will only get worse.

Weekly Update:
The other day I grabbed a diet coke and thought one or two glasses shouldn't affect me in sleeping since it was past 4 PM.  So I am not 100% sure if that was the reason or not but I couldn't sleep till around 3:30 AM that same night!  And I had to wake up around 6 AM as well!  What was even more strange was through the day after I wasn't very tired as I thought I would be but believe me, I took some naps when I could!  Falling asleep the next day was not a challenge for me and I just wish I could do that every night!  But then I don't want to make that the routine of staying up till 4 AM every other night.

At the movies:
Laughing all the way the way to #1 is Joker with a hefty 93.5 million for it's debut.  Well above all estimations and could be a record for an October release or at least up there!  Solid word-of-mouth for this film and award buzz to boot.  Look for this one to finish strong north of 250.  Holding at #2 is "Abominable" with another (and distant) 12 mil as it quickly chills out at the box office.  Drop down to #3 is "Downtown Abbey" with 8 mil as it struggles along in the theatrical realm.  Hanging on to #4 is "Hustlers" with 6.3 mil as it is just shy of 100 mil, may get that within the next 10-days.  Rounding off the top 5 is "IT: Chapter Two" with 5.4 mil as it just passes the 200 mil cume mark.
