Mistaken

I had an interesting encounter on Saturday at the donut store.  I was pulling into the parking lot and this massive truck was parked diagonally in the drive way.  I could have sworn it had their hazard lights on and not the right hand turn so I went in-between the properly parked cars and his massive truck.  He was causing quiet the jam in the parking lot as another car was trying to go in the opposite direction but was blocked by him being in their lane to begin with.  And then another car behind me but on the opposite side of me if that makes sense.  Well, I saw a car pull out and I took the spot, again did not see his turn signal but hazards.  As I got out to go into the shop, he said he was waiting for that spot... how was I to know if you have your hazards on?  I did apologize and since I was almost to the door of the shop, I told him I will be right out (I only get one donut a week).  But the store was crowded when I got inside.  He eventually found a spot and came inside but as I was leaving, I did apologize again and offered to pay for his donuts or whatever he was going to get there with his wife or girlfriend.  He said don't worry, he's good but offered again and my apology for not knowing.  He said don't worry, he's good and I said, Ok then and walked out.  I'm 6 feet and he was just over 5 feet so I am not sure if that had any role in this encounter.

Weekly Update:

Another week of up and down weather... We should be in the 80's to 90's right now but morning has been 60, maybe high 50's. And the days are high 70's but it does feel a lot warmer, maybe because lack of breezes which I have said in the past make a huge difference.  We are getting more sun lately which is different, I was getting used to all the over cast!  Now when the sun is out, I get confused and don't know what time it is anymore!  Sun confusing, no Sun not confusing!  But this weather has been nicer for my wallet and the lower electric bill costs so I am happy about that.  Ok, what will this next bring us??

At the movies:

Rising back to the top to take #1 is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with 19.3 million and now just over 300 mil as expected.  This version of the web-slinger though is slowing down so who knows how much further it will carry at this point.  Holding at #2 is Elemental with 18.5 mil and may actually hit 100 mil when it's said and done!  Big dip to #3 is The Flash with 15.3 mil, suffered a huge drop since it's debut and though it will reach 100 mil, just not much more past that.  New at #4 is No Hard Feelings with 15.1 mil and likely will be in and out fast.  Rounding off the top 5 is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts with another 11.6 mil while this rolling engine will come to a complete stop.

Colder, cold, HOT, cold

In a twist of weather this past Saturday saw a small heat wave.  So Friday morning it was cold and it rained a bit, mostly drizzled.  It remained cloudy all day till maybe around 4 or 5PM then that ended that day.  Saturday, cold but no mist or rain but cloudy as it has been most of the past month or two.  Around 1PM, the sun came out and it heated up fast to almost 90 (stationary) but dropped back down to about 82 and stayed there for the rest of the day till night time when it went back down to the 60's.  It was quiet the rollercoaster in temps on Saturday but then Sunday it dropped back down to 60 in the AM with MAYBE 70 during the day.  We did have more sunlight though then we have had all month (or two)!

Weekly Update:

I know I've talked about this before and how naps are so underrated.  What is wrong with a nap if you are tired mid-day?  Now if you try to take a nap and end up sleeping for a couple or a few hours, that is no longer a nap in my book.  A nap is a quick sleep that is 60 mins or less but if you are that tired (or sick even) then if you go over, you are officially sleeping.  The tell kids to take a nap all the time to help with their growth, but I'm sure it's doing more than that.  I'm no doctor but recharging yourself or the ol "resting my eyes" has some truth to that.  Every part of your body needs some kind of rest and the older you get (or the younger you still are), those parts need rest for one reason or another.  So, tired? Take a nap.

At the movies:

Super quick at the box office is The Flash taking the #1 spot for its debut earning a fair 55.1 million.  Below expectations since we are now in Summer time mode and this could be a struggle to get very far... may be a quick burn out, pun intended.  New at #2 is Elemental with 29.5 mil which is surprisingly low but also, not unexpected.  I think with shifting more content to Disney+ may be affecting Disney's ability to win a box office week for a Pixar film anymore.  Drop down to #3 is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with another 27.8 mil as it's now in range to hit 300 mil cume.  Likely will get that by the end of this coming weekend.  Sizeable drop to #4 is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts with 20 mil as it it barely cracks 100 mil domestic.  Another sign this franchise is done in theatres but I'm sure merchandise hasn't been better.  Another big drop to #5 is The Little Mermaid with 11.6 mil and this movie is quickly wrapping up it's Summer early.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week at #6 is The Blackening earning only 6 mil with just under 2000 runs and... down and out after this week.

Cold still remains!

Is it still Winter?  The weather this past week went very cold again!  I mean, awesome and I am saving so much money on electricity but it's just unusual.  Every morning has been very overcast and sometimes the sun comes out in the afternoon for a couple of hours and then it starts to become night or the clouds come back.  No rain though, some misting at most but it always looks like it will rain.  What is interesting is the nights haven't gotten super cold which one thing they would considering how cool to cold the days have been.  So, if this is our Summer this year, I am all for it!  I love good jacket weather since I rarely get to wear them and now I can!  Well, I remember to grab one when I leave the house.

Weekly Update:

I went to Disneyland on Saturday night for a fun scavenger hunt work event.  It wasn't really a scavenger hunt entirely but that is the closest thing to compare it to.  It was a office related event and we had teams of 2 to 4 (my team was 4).  We started with answering trivia questions and then moved into the park to find things on windows, rides and around the park in general.  Also had to listen to some music to identify songs and where they came from.  Also had to take photos of certain name tags and things like a non-Disneyland spirit style jersey.  It was a pretty fun night overall and ended off with a free churro since the stand was closing and had extras... how can you not say no and go wrong with a free churro!

At the movies:

Taking the box office crown this week is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts with a fair 60.5 million.  Clearly this franchise is done but the international numbers continue to beef up the overall box office numbers.  This will drop quickly though for domestic box office which is what really matters.  Drop down to #2 is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with 55.4 mil extra and now just over 200 mil domestic.  Still on course potentially to reach 400 mil but unlikely past that.  Sliding down to #3 is The Little Mermaid with 22.8 mil more and also now past 200 mil.  May end up around 300 which doesn't look great.  Still hanging on to #4 is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 with 7 mil extra and it quickly slowing down.  Rounding off the top 5 is The
Boogeyman
with 6.9 mil more and this one is all done.

Cool cool cool cool

NOW we are starting to feel some Summer temps!  I don't want to say it's about time because I have enjoyed all the gloom and cool to cold weather thus so far!  I have always said, easier to warm up than to cool down... or basically cheaper to warm up than to cool down.  But end of the week we had warmer temps and sunny weather.  I think Friday was the first day in at least 2 to 3 weeks that the sun came out in the morning.  Lately it hasn't shown up till mid to late afternoon.  Despite it only being in the low 70's, it sure felt warmer because of no breezes but also, I wonder if my overall body temperature has now gotten accustomed to being colder?  The short distance forecast continues to call for low 70's but am I going to melt if it reaches... 75?!?

Weekly Update:

Not a whole lot happened this week other than the odd weather patterns which is not typical for this time of year.  Did the usual errands and oh, ran into a LOT of graduation traffic at the college down the street from me.  So what, it's California State University, Fullerton or CSUF for short, so what is college?  I have Chapman College and Cerritos College but then you have USC and CSUF... what is the difference? One description online says the difference is the size of the institution which I don't think that is right.  CSUF is big but I've been to bigger college's so it must be something else besides that.  CSUF has a baseball team but Chapman has a football team.  So, I don't know what the difference is.

At the movies:

Swinging into #1 this week for its debut is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with a hefty 120.5 million!  Very solid number and about on track with expectations as it was also graduation week for a lot of schools.  Should be a good Summer for this one.  Drop down to #2 with a below-average drop (which is good!) is The Little Mermaid With 40.6 million more and now shy of 200 mil.  It should get that by mid to end of this week.  New at #3 is The Boogeyman with 12.3 mil and not sure why they went up against Spider-Man.  Holding at #4 is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 with 10.2 mil as it continues into the 300's but how far will it go with all the Summer releases now opening?  Rounding off the top 5 is Fast X with 9.2 mil and this will quickly fall-off the track soon.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week in a very limited on-screen event... in at #9 is Suga/August D Tour: D-Day in Japan.  It went on just under 1000 screens and did 1.2 million.  One-and-done deal.
