It finally cooled down!!  In the latter-half of this week our temperatures finally went down to the high 70's.  It took awhile to get there because the start of the week still saw close to or slightly over 100 degree weather.  But we watched as each day got cooler and cooler.  Now, if it will just stay this way for the next 10 months, I will be happy.  We also had some great overcast and marine mist come in once or twice.  I love the mist because its basically a fog and makes things all eerie, just in time for Halloween!  No with Halloween being on a Tuesday this year, wonder if all the parties were done this past weekend?  Hope so as I will be out part of Tuesday for work and if I come home when its starting to get dark, stupid people come out to drive.

Weekly Update:
So it was a very busy week!  But the weekend was kind of fun but still very tiring.  It was the Stan Lee LA Comic Con (formally known as Comikaze).  Only went for one day to do some things there but got meet some new folks and ran into some old friends.  While also there got some pics with a few people:

*Gates McFadden - best known from TV's "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and she was OK.
*Bryan Johnson - one of the Comic Book Men from the show with the same name and an OK guy.
*Ming Chen - also from the show and a very cool guy!
*Jed Rees - from "The Ringer" and "Galaxy Quest," very nice guy!
*Tara Strong - Voice-over actress from many cartoons and super cool!
*Chloe Bennet - from "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" and super awesome!

At the movies:
Not a big weekend with no surprises.  New at #1 is Jigsaw with 16.3 mil and right on estimations.  Not a lot on this film so it should be a quick burn as we wrap up October.  Drop to #2 is "Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween" with another 10 mil.  Also dipping down to #3 is "Geostorm" with an extra 5.7 mil and this one is its own disaster.  Big drop to #4 is "Happy Death Day" with 5.1 mil and this day is over.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Blade Runner 2049" with 4 mil more and also out of steam.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Two this week ... in at #6 is Thank You for Your Service with a small 3.7 mil to open and pretty much expected.  Showing up at #9 is Suburbicon with only 2.8 mil and below expectations but not surprising at that.

HOT!!!  What in the heck is going on?!?! This has to be record temperatures for this time of year but dang so unnatural!!  It should be nice and cool, maybe breezy but its dry, windy and also fires.  Yep when it is so dry and hot in SoCali, fires start up and most of the time by arson. I guess they get a kick of causing them and I don't know what the train of thought is after that but the lives it hurts and even takes, especially wildlife.  This year fires have not been nothing short of chaotic and lots of evacuations occurring.  A huge fear and disruption of just life.  I hope they find some of these people and deal with them harshly because this is more than just property damage.

Weekly Update:
OK, you are in your car, doing nothing, parked in a spot but you keep your door open because ... well?  why??  Just to block someone from parking next to you?  Do you just not want the car door anymore that anyone can just pull in and bend it backwards for you?  Eventually you have to honk at them but what in the world are they doing that they are oblivious to the world??  Can you not see its a busy parking lot and people want the space that I have to honk at you!  I would hate to think how they drive if this is how they park!  Some people, just simply amazing and confusing at the same time.

At the movies:
A new boo at #1 this week as Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween takes the scare crown with 21.7 million.  Right at expectations and still a good number for this franchise as after market will be big.  New at #2 is Geostorm with 13.3 mil and fairly close to estimations.  Drop down to #3 is "Happy Death Day" with another 9.4 mil as we close in on Halloween.  Holding at #4 is "Blade Runner 2049" with an extra 7.2 mil as it quickly wraps up.  New at #5 is "Only the Brave" with 6 mil and another one as expected this weekend.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Two fell short this week, at #7 is Same Kind of Different as Me with only 3.6 mil and actually slightly above expectations!  Not much else on this film and will be gone quickly.  New at #9 is The Snowman with only 3.4 mil and as to be expected for this one.

So despite one day being crazy hot, over 100 degrees, the rest of the week was really nice!!  Of course the one day it is over 100 I go out to Disneyland to hang out with some friends but only could last half a day.  It was just so bad in the direct sun and when I got home I needed another shower and then fell asleep resting when I was suppose to be doing a bunch of errands.  What is going on , we are in the Fall season I thought, it should be in the 80's at most, close to 90 but that should be it!  But I finally got to see some of the Halloween stuff at Disney's California Adventure in person and it was pretty cool.  I am thinking at night it is better but oh well, I did have to go and was just to exhausted.

Weekly Update:
So some recovery work has been going on in the house and it just started.  All from some water damage from an upstairs toilet.  The areas that were damaged are the upstairs bedroom which has its own bathroom.  Then it seeped down to the downstairs restroom, closet, laundry room and part of the garage.  It has taken over 2 months to get the work started, some disconnect between the insurance and who to have do the work.  But once that got all cleared up, the worked started immediately.  So trying to stay home as much as I can while the work goes on ... water ... its both a blessing and a curse.

At the movies:

A fairly quiet time at the box office right now as we see a new #1.  Taking the crown for a week is Happy Death Day with 26.5 million, above expectations and proper time of year for a movie like this.  Drop down to #2 is "Blade Runner 2049" with an extra 15.1 mil as it struggles to get to 100 mil cume but unlikely to reach it.  New at #3 is The Foreigner with a modest 12.8 mil to open, below expectations a tad.  Dropping down to #4 is "It" with 6 mil as it cruises into the 300 mil range but likely to tap out soon.  Rounding off the top 5 is "The Mountain Between Us" with 5.7 mil more and just about done on this one as well.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Marshall comes in at #11 earning only 3 mil.  Low opening but also not surprising and to be expected.

Warm days and very cool nights ... Our weather has slightly shifted yet again to warm days with breezes though.  Was around the low 80's to high 70's which is OK but what made it bearable was the breeze ... ahhh the breeze.  Then at night it would dip to the 60's which was very nice!  I wonder if this Winter season we will see heavy rains again?  The river beds are already dried up again and no flow from the mountains that I can see so ... yep, we need it!  Hope it gets colder and we get some water soon ... very soon.

Weekly Update:
This past Tuesday I had the opportunity to be at the "Blade Runner 2049" premiere to work the carpet but at the last minute they had cancelled it due to the events in Las Vegas. But overall the night was still good and I waited till the movie was over to escort the person I was there for but they decided to leave early.  I went ahead to the party anyway to get some food and got to meet some people ...

*Adam Savage - best known from "Mythbusters" and a very cool guy
*Mackenzie Davis - best known from "Halt and Catch Fire," and super sweet.
*Ana de Armas - will be best known from this film and she was nice.
*Thomas Middleditch - best known from the show "Silicon Valley" and a nice guy.

At the movies:
The future is now ... Blade Runner 2049 takes top honors this weekend with a fair 31.5 and right on expectations! Reviews are good for the film but it has a long away to go if it wants to break 100 mil which it may not with this opening.  New at #2 is The Mountain Between Us with 10.1 mil, also right on predictions for this drama.  Dropping down to #3 is "It" with another 9.7 mil as it now surpasses the 300 mil cume mark.  New at #4 is My Little Pony with 8.8 mil and also very close to expectations but slightly shy.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" with another 8.1 mil and won't make it to 100 mil after all.

Las Vegas Edition

Last night a crazy gunman opened fire with automatic and semi-automatic weapons from the Mandalay Bay hotel into a nearby lot/parking area where a concert was being performed.  At least 50 people were killed and dozens more wounded.  Watching some of the videos that emerged from the night, you would not believe this was happening in the US but some area in war-torn Afghanistan.  Seeing people on the ground, running around and then an eruption of automatic fire.  Simply shocking and unbelievable that this could happen but it did.

Weekly Update:
Australia sure has a lot of crazy things that come out of it ... from their yeast, nasty tasting paste they put on toast ... vita-mix? Or something like that, to other crazy things like the size of their beer cans.  I might have mentioned this before but Tim Tams!  These are completely contradictory to anything else that has come out of that country!  This is such a delicious treat, how did they create this crunchy tasty thing??  But if I did bring them up before, the reason they are here again is I found the mother-lode!!!  They were at the 99 cent store and I bought 10 the first time and then 4 more the next day.  I would have gotten more but my freezer is out of room.  Why get so many?  These normally sell for about $5 a container and on sale its around $3 plus.  So for a dollar?!?  BUY BUY BUY and freeze them.  So good!

At the movies:
A bit of a shake-up this week ... re-claiming the number 1 spot is "It" with a mild 17.3 mil but so close to 300 mil cume for domestic.  It should have that by this coming weekend or very close to it.  New at #2 is American Made with 17 mil, slightly below expectations.  Sizable drop to #3 is "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" with 17 mil and unfortunately unlikely to hit 100 mil cume.  Slight drop to #4 is "Lego Ninjago" with an extra 12 mil as the bricks come apart on this.  New and rounding off the top 5 is Flatliners with only 6.7 mil and below estimations however not surprising.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week, in at #9 is Til Death Do Us Part with only 1.5 mil and under expectations but not by much!
