Smells like a fire??!

So it smelled like there was a fire nearby and not like a BBQ or fireplace but brush fire.  It is interesting how it has a very distinct smell about it so you know what it is.  I am not sure where it is or even how close it may be.  With the slight winds we have been having it could literally be miles away.  But then again it could be super close and I wouldn't be able to tell.  We are going into Fire Season (aka Summer II) so hopefully it won't be bad this year.  Too easy for them to get out of control.

Weekly Update:
We had a fun work event on Wednesday.  I was very involved with it and I think it went well.  I had invited my friend Samantha Jo and we also got a creative director from Marvel/Disney to give a neat presentation.  But the food ... I love crepes!  To me that was one of the highlights!  I had a nice ham and cheese type of crepe along with a apple pie version, both were so delicious!  Crepes and gyro's ... not sure what is with these type of pocket folding foods but can't get enough.

At the movies:
A new #1 this week but that was no surprise.  The big surprise are the numbers ... at #1 is Transformers: The Last Knight with only 45.3 million, well below all expectations but just shows the public is done with these films.  However, international could still be the big money grab.  Holding ground at #2 is "Wonder Woman" with another 25.2 mil and now past 300 mil cume for domestic.  Still on track to be close to 400, possibly break that.  It is also over 650 mil world-wide and could potentially break the billion mark.  Big drop to 3rd place is "Cars 3" with another 25.2 mil and just shy of the 100 mil mark, should get that by mid-day tomorrow though.  Down to #4 is "47 Meters" with another 7.4 mil and may be it for this thriller.  Rounding off the top 5 is "All Eyez On Me" with an extra 5.9 mil and this story may be coming to an end as well.

Its getting hotter!!!  Ugh, they say it was only in the high 80's to low 90's but it felt like 100 with no breeze and just straight heat on your face and body.  I had a lot of walking around to do and after just being outside for 10 minutes I just wanted to lay down and sleep ... or die, whichever is easier.  But this past weekend I did spend a lot of time outside and it was a bit brutal ... once I got back inside I didn't want to move an inch.  But, this is the summer I expect but I can still not like it.  I have a feeling all the water we got will soon be gone and fast!  Then, we will be back in drought mode again because we did not get nearly enough as we needed.

Weekly Update:
So this was fun, I won a prize!  I won a major award!  But this was a reward rather than award.  At work we have this contest that I enter each time they put something up, can't count how many times I have entered different contest but I won one!  So this past weekend I got a 2 night stay at the Disneyland Hotel including club level service and tickets with VIP seats to a "Cars 3" screening on Saturday morning.  I was pretty fun but the big part of the trip with the club level service called the E-Ticket Club.  I must have stayed in there for hours enjoying all the free snacks, drinks and the times they had food.  So basically had dinner in there for 2 nights with meatballs, mini pizzas, and just other random snack foods.  But they had what seemed to be Martinelli sparking apple juice and kept bringing them to me.  It was just a really nice weekend and I hope I win again!

At the movies:
A new number one crosses the finish line this weekend as Cars 3 earns the cup and 53.6 million to open.  Solid reviews and film, should easily break 100 mil after a few laps and almost right on estimations.  Holding ground at #2 is "Wonder Woman" earning another 40.8 mil as it passes 250 mil domestic (570+ world wide).  still on course to break 350 domestic.  New at #3 is All Eyes On Me with an amazing 27.1 mil, slightly above expectations.  Drop down to #4 is "The Mummy" with 13.9 mil as it struggles to reach 100 mil and unlikely will.  Rounding off the top 5 is 47 Meters Down with 11.5 mil and right about expected too.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Rough Night comes in at #7 with only 8.1 mil and no surprises there.  As mentioned before, I think the campaign for this was confusing as to what kind of movie this was suppose to be.

I think the Summer is now in full heat mode now ... it was so nice for so long but now we have hit the heatwave season.  Came later than normal but I hope that means it doesn't carry over longer now!  It was so miserable that I think we got hit with some humidity because after being outside for just a few minutes, I felt really gross and sticky ... and a little bit hard to breathe.  I am not asthmatic or anything but still, thicker air is harder to breathe through.  I just want some cold weather, always easier to warm up than to cool down.  When are we putting a dome over this city?!  Stadiums have domes, we can just extend it right?  No??

Weekly Update:
I got really sick on Saturday night, not sure if it was food poisoning or something else but it sure kept me up all night and several trips to the bathroom thinking I might throw-up.  I didn't but took the dog's water dish to put by the side of the bed just in case.  At one point I wish I would throw-up because I thought it would make the stomach pains go away!  But, I didn't, so was miserable for the whole night and had to call in sick to work.  About mid-day started to feel way better but thought it best to completely rest and let it run its course (whatever that may be) so I can be normal again ... well, semi-normal anyway.  Man, stomach bugs are nasty.

At the movies:
The Amazonian princess keeps the crown for another week as "Wonder Woman" holds onto #1 with an extra 57.2 mil.  Now past 200 mil domestic (400+ worldwide), its on the road to break 300 mil.  New at #2 is The Mummy with 32.3 mil and right on estimations.  Word-of-mouth is fair on this so it should fall quickly.  Holding on to #3 is "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie" with another 12.3 mil as it crawls along.  Still hanging on at #4 is "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" with 10.7 mil as it also struggles along.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2" with 6.2 mil as it quickly wraps up.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Two this week, first up is It Comes at Night at #6 with only 6 mil and actually right at expectations for this genre film for this time frame.  New at #8 is Megan Leavey with only 3.8 mil and again right at expectations.

"My Name is Lillian and I am an alcoholic. I'm rich, I'm fabulously rich. I'm also generous and kind hearted. My father died when I was young and my mother was absent most of the time. Is this an excuse for making a mockery of my life? Oh it all looks very wild from the outside, I once went to bed with three European Princesses at the same time but A, I cant remember anything about it, and B, apparently I vomited over two of them before losing control of my bladder on the third, oh yes all such fun. Until the fog parts and suddenly there's a hole so big that all the vintage champagne and all the bat mobiles on the world can't fill it. Then I'm all alone on my magnetic bed, wondering what venereal disease I've just caught." - Helen Mirren as Hobson in "Arthur."

June gloom is really a thing!!  Lately the weather has been great!  And when I say great, nice and cold to cool with lots of clouds.  I think it drizzled a few times but almost like it will rain but doesn't.  Not sure if this is connected with the oceans or something but its not a marine layer as that is like a fog.  This is like rain clouds but without the rain.  Keeps things very cool for a Summer month but you get no Sun ... I am OK with that!  It is hotter than cooler the majority of the year so any of this is welcomed and plus it keeps things lower in energy like no AC running which burns up a lot of power and also causes brown-outs!

Weekly Updates:
This has been another busy week and it has all been a blur.  Had some oral surgery done but instead of a root canal they went in from the side in the gum.  I guess the tooth had a root canal before and the cap and post inside were all good so they did not want to touch them.  So the alternative was from the side ... fun!  But after being numb'd up, it was absolutely painless and did not take much time as one would think.

At the movies:
The princess takes the crown this weekend as Wonder Woman earns her place at #1 with a hefty 100.5 million to open.  On course right now to potentially reach 300 mil domestic with the strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews.  Coming in a very distant second and also new is Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie with 23.5 mil to open.  Dropping down to #3 is "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" with an extra 21.6 mil as it just crosses the 100 mil cume mark.  This ship's sails won't be catching any wind unfortunately.  Holding on to the #4 spot is "Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2" with another 9.7 mil as it hits 350 mil plus domestic.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Baywatch" with 8.5  mil and the beach may be closed on this one next week.
