Cough cough cough ... still coughing and VERY slowly fading away but still lingering.  I get this kind of cough about once every couple of years.  I used to get it every year and it would last for months.  What is up with that?  Is there something hanging in the throat that we can not just find a way to dissolve or remove?  Why oh why won't it go away!!  I thought a cough was trying to remove something, nature needs to fix this because it is not working properly!

Weekly Update:
What happened this week ... not much!  Got a little rain and I do mean little.  Was cold but not freezing and that is about it I think.  Had our annual Young Variety Pool Tournament on Thursday but I did not get there till very late.  So much traffic, it was definitely one of the worst I have seen in a few weeks.  Took me almost 90 minutes to in the opposite direction of traffic, that other way looked insane!!  But finally arrived and the evening was getting to the final rounds of the tournament, got some decent food and reunited with a bunch of people I have not seen in months.  That is always the good thing about these events is seeing everyone again after so long.  I feel like we are all getting out of touch but that is life ... it happens.

At the movies:
Oscar Sunday and also extreme bad weather in most of the country could be some of the reasons the box office was a bit down this week.  Hanging on to the #1 spot is "Fifty Shades of Grey" with a huge drop-off and earning another 23.3 million.  It has passed the 100 mil cume but it will continue to be a very fast burn.  Bumping up to #2 is "Kingsman: The Secret Service" with another 17.5 mil and will likely cap out just shy of 100 mil.  Holding steady at #3 is "SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" with an extra 15.5 mil as it continues along.  New at #4 is McFarland, USA with 11.3 mil and close to expectations.  Rounding off the top 5 is The Duff with 11 mil and this will likely be a fast burn at the box office.  This also was pretty close to expectations.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as the sequel Hot Tub Time Machine 2 shows up at #7 with only 5.8 mil.  Slightly below expectations but it was also missing one of the key stars from the first film.  This will also be another fast burn as well.

And enter the lingering cough!  Oh joy, so last week I had the flu with a side of ear infection and then got rid of the flu around Friday fully.  But, the cough has come around to hang out a bit longer.  It isn't a bad cough, just an annoying one.  So now I am on the cough drops and liquids like 7-Up.  Good thing I had several bags of drops the last time I was sick left-over but I may need to get more soon.  And also need to stock up on more 7-Up since I spend a lot of time on the phone.  I use the musinex stuff as well and that seems to help a bit.  I just want it to go all away ... at least the weather has been pretty warm lately but the nights pretty cold so that back and forth I am sure doesn't help too much.  Speaking of weather, when are we suppose to get some rain?!?  Not a drop around here in weeks, is it still Winter?  I am not even sure anymore!

Weekly Update:

Well the week was pretty much playing recovery from the illness of the previous week so I didn't do much.  But honestly, I guess I do not do much anyway.  I guess I did manage to get some sleep which is good for a change but the week was just sleep and more sleep.  I took Tuesday off for recovery but the rest of the week still beat me up for the most part.  Went to Los Angeles again and of course traffic was still bad coming back home.  But I visited my aunt she was so kind to give me some cool things that I consider gifts but I am sure for her it was just stuff she was never going to use.  One of the things was a nice big box for the Lego Movie that had some cool Lego characters in it!  And when you open the box, it starts to play about the first 5 seconds of "Everything is Awesome" so that is pretty cool and fun.

At the movies:
No surprises this weekend as the fan fiction book to movie of
Fifty Shades of Grey took the box office crown with a hefty 81.7 million for it's debut.  Slightly above expectations but word-of-mouth is very soft (pun intended) on this film and could see a very significant drop next week.  New at #2 is Kingsman: The Secret Service with a solid 35.6 mil and overall decent reviews.  Slight drop to #3 is "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" with another 30.5 mil as it is just shy of the 100 mil mark and could hit it by end of next weekend.  Still solid numbers at #4 is "American Sniper" with another 16.4 mil and passes the 300 mil cume mark!  It could see another boost in this numbers depending on the award outcome this Sunday. Rounding off the top 5 is "Jupiter Ascending" with another 9.4 mil and did not suffer that great of a drop than expected.

Just another week and ... I got sick!  I thought I was going to get sick back in January but then I guess I was able to fight that off and turned out to be fine.  Then on Saturday night I started getting the same feelings and symptoms, but this time, I lost the fight.  Woke up the next day, completely congested and got very warm and very cold throughout the day.  I did not thing I was getting a fever but I did manage to be so tired and always blowing my nose.  So slept throughout the day and then went into the office on Monday, stayed for 2 hours and then left.  Made an appointment that same day and found out I had minor influenza and an ear infection in my left year.  I am not sure if this was that drastic but the doctor said it was a good thing I saw them because my ear was about to blow causing serious damage.  I mean, to me, it just felt like I was blowing part of the congested through my left ear but I guess that is bad.  So I was put on meds right away and stayed home for the of the day.  I hope it goes away ...

Weekly Update:
The week itself was pretty quiet.  Went to Los Angeles
on Saturday for a few hours.  Getting there was not a problem but getting home ... funny how it is a Saturday and it was nothing but back-to-back street and freeway traffic.  I thought I left at a decent time but I guess no time is decent for LA.  I am sure other major cities have the same issue but I don't think they do almost year-round.  I am sure other cities have issues with traffic because of weather like snow but just because of the amount of people and drives who have no clue how to drive?  I think that is our issue and we need to figure out that problem somehow ... where are the hover cars to bring a new level of traffic?!

At the movies:
Absorbing up the #1 spot this weekend is The SpongeBob Move: Sponge Out of Water with an astonishing 56 million.  Above most expectations and I am sure more toys and other related products saw a big boost in sales as well.  Slight drop to #2 is "American Sniper" with another 24.2 mil and just shy of the 300 mil mark.  It should hit that this coming weekend.  New at #3 is Jupiter Ascending with 19 mil and slightly above expectation.  Word-of-mouth is not great on this one so it should be a very fast burn.  New at #4 is Seventh Son with a very disappointing 7.1 mil but not too far from predictions.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Paddington" with another 5.4 mil as it more-or-less has run out of steam.

SUPER BOWL EDITION

The big game was today and the winner is ... New England Patriots!  I did not watch the game, did not really care this year so they won, great!  Congrats and the Seattle Seahawks lost.  I read the score was close but was it a good game?  I saw some of the Super Bowl ads online this year and based on what I saw, the game must have been good because the ads kind of sucked.  I only saw a couple, one or two were really cleaver but 4 or 5 were very weak.  The Super Bowl ads are kind of important these days with being a major part of the entertainment package of the game.  But if the game is good, the ads can be bad because the game will sustain the viewers.  But if the game is bad, the ads will save the day!  I may go back and watch the rest but so far, unimpressed with them.

Weekly Update:
I finally saw the movie "Big Hero 6" and ... its GREAT!  I really wish I caught this in the theatre but you get into times where you just do not have the time!  I never read the original comic book/manga it was from but I do not think it matters that much because based on the movies box office reaction, no one knew it ahead of time.  From what I understand, it is pretty different than the book but the filmmakers did a great job on basically introducing this anime/manga team to U,S and possibly the world audiences.  Even though the film is called Hero 6, it truly focuses on a boy and his robot, the Big guy which clearly the first word of the title is named after.  But it was a light, fun and overall solid movie that I can watch over and over again.  Good music, great animation and nice character development.  The bad guy was a bit predictable on who it will be but it did not matter.  The after credits scene was a bit forced and was not that great in my opinion but it was an after bit.

At the movies:
Defending the #1 spot is "American Sniper" for the third week in a row earning another 31.9 million and now just shy of 250 mil cume.  It should get that sometime tomorrow and is now on the road to 300 mil!  Holding on to #2 is "Paddington" with another 8.5 mil as it just hit the 50 mil mark.  New at #3 is Project Almanac with a very disappointing 8.5 mil for its debut, below all expectations.  New at #4 is Black or White with only 6.5 mil and also way below most expectations.  Rounding off the top 5 is "The Boy Next Door" with an extra 6 mil and might just be the last time we see it in the top 5.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as the disappointing The Loft comes in at #10 with only 2.9 mil.  The studio continues to struggle trying to find anything to break through.  This was expected to do some business but sadly completely off the mark.
