so tired, no sleep?

I am not sure what is going on but this week has been so tiring.  I mean I know what it is but why it is, I don't.  I have been so tired this week but the reason is lack of sleep.  I fall asleep around midnight to 1AM and wake up before 5 for no reason as my alarm is set for 545.  And sometimes I wake up before 5 and try to go back to sleep, sometimes successful, other times not.  I don't drink my usual caffeine any differently, try to have it all finished by noon so that hasn't changed.  Maybe my brain doesn't turn off?  I know I am not getting plenty of sleep at other times so who knows what is going on but... I am so tired and still am tired.  Maybe I'll catch up but it sure wasn't this week or weekend!

Weekly Update:

Disneyland reopened Toontown and it looks... cute.  The original was OK, cute also but just didn't really attract me in going there.  It had 2 rides and now has a third which is cool but enough to spend part of my day there?  I haven't been to it yet but have been on the new ride.  The new uniforms are so bad, they don't seem to fit in my opinion.  They are very colorful and patch-work-like if that makes sense but just, no style.  It feels they were thought of last minute and not very attractive at all.  Just my opinion though and an eye-sore to look at.  They need to be re-worked in some way.  How?  I don't know but what they are now is just not good.  Hopefully the rest of the land will be better once I get a chance to check it out.

At the movies:

Blasting its way to #1 is John Wick: Chapter 4 earning a hefty 73.5 million for it's debut.  Very strong number for this time of year and sets a new record for the franchise.  No doubt will hit 100 mil by the end of next week.  Big drop down to #2 is Shazam! Fury of the Gods with 9.7 mil as it continues to struggle and won't hit 100 mil for lifetime.  Slipping down to #3 is Scream VI with 8.4 mil and continues to be in striking distance to 100 mil, should get there in a couple of weeks if not sooner.  Holding ground at #4 is Creed III with 8.4 mil as it continues to do well overall.  Rounding off the top 5 is 65 with 3.3 mil more and this continues to drop quickly.

Wet and dry... at least not hot

It's dry again with some light showers.  The weather did warm up some this week, said it would be in the 60's but felt (and was) a kind of warm low 70's.  Was getting used to the 50 degree temperatures that now being in the 70's is hot!  Or very warm at least.  Next week promises several days of rain so hopefully that remains true but we will see.  Our weather in general though has been very wacky and not consistent from what it used to be.  Will it ever normalize again?  Probably not with the way the world is.  Population is back now that everyone is back out on the roads and you can see the layers of smog again... it's honestly very very sad.  Not enough is going into solar development and making it affordable and a standard, that needs to happen first and now!

Weekly Update:

Very busy end of the week for me and I was TIRED.  So aside from some daily things, Friday night (which was also Saint Patrick's Day) I had to drive up to North Hollywood for a small indie film premier.  It was at a small theatre but that drive was about 3 hours round trip, over 100 miles. The movie was The Disappearance of Mrs. Wu and it was fun.  I do see this more as a TV or streaming movie over a theatre one though but still good.  Overall good cast but it did make me want to visit Carmel in Central California some day.  I know it's a beautiful city, would like to visit it some day some time.  It was an indie film and very much felt like one.  It was done through Picturehouse which was nice to see their label on something again soon, been a long time.  I think this will only be in theatres for a week or 5-days and then on streaming services.

At the movies:

Flying into the #1 spot this weekend is Shazam! Fury of the Gods with a fair 30.5 million to open.  Below expectations and also down quiet a bit from it's predecessor 4-years ago.  Next week will be a big tell for this movie if it will be a hit but at the current trend, strong no.  Drop down to #2 is Scream VI with 17.5 mil and getting close to 100 mil cume.  It could get there but will be a long road for it.  Slipping down to #3 is Creed III with 15.4 mil extra as it continues to throw more punches. Down to number 4 is 65 with 5.8 mil and this odd sci-fi film should be dropping out soon.  Rounding off the top 5 is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania with 4.1 mil extra and now just over 200 mil.  This road is over but at least it made it.

Minus one hour of sleep

DAYLIGHT SAVING EDITION

Saturday night into Sunday morning we lost an hour of sleep as we jump forward an hour in time.  Most states in the US observe it and I don't mind it.  I know so many people who don't but hey, you get it back in the Fall with an extra hour of sleep! I don't mind losing that hour as long as I don't have to work so it's an easy adjustment the following day for me.  But I have had to wake up an hour early before because of it and that really makes things drag (for me at least).  So this year it was nice since I didn't have to work!

Weekly Update:

The other day I was at Costco and I noticed one of their parking rows they had a pedestrian walk-way between the line of cars.  Why aren't these every where? There are a lot of reasons to have these and to just name a few... safety of people walking to and from their cars so they are not in the street or driving lane of the parking lot.  Also if you pull into the spot backwards, quick and easy loading your car because you will be doing it in the walk-lane!  But I did notice when coming back to my car, at least 2 people left their empty cards in the walk-way it completely blocked it so that sucked. However that is more inconsideration than the aisle not being good or working.  I will say I can see only one draw-back of having these walking aisle is they do require space and you lose maybe...3 to 4 feet per row.

At the movies:

Slashing its way to #1 and new at the box office is Scream VI with a hefty 44.5 million to open!  BIG numbers for this film and franchise, let's see how it holds up for the long run.  Drop down to #2 is Creed III with another 27.2 mil and now passes the 100 mil mark but just barely.  This film should be able to go another round.  New at #3 is 65 with 12.3 mil and not a whole lot more on this one. Continuing to slide down to #4 is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania with 7 mil more and should get to 200 mil in another few days but not much left after that.  Rounding off the top 5 is Cocaine Bear with 6.2 mil extra and overall had a good run.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Champions comes in at #7 with 5.2 mil and couldn't make it score.

Just call it snow?

Ok, so we did get some nice rain, several places even got snow but the mountains are fully loaded now which is nice!  Disneyland even got some "snow" but it's called graupel?  Apparently that is not exactly snow nor hail but something very light and fluffy and I guess dissolves at impact.  So why not call it just snow?  So the internet defines it as "Graupel are soft, small pellets formed when supercooled water droplets - typically at a temperature below 32F - freeze onto a snow crystal."  So... light snow? I mean it looks like a more rounded snow (image was not taken by me) but still falls and lands like snow.  I don't know why it has be so different when it's pretty much the same thing.

Weekly Update:

Funny watching people in what is perceived to be an expensive car park in a parking lot.  I was at the bank this week (actually at least 3 times this week) and I saw an older man (but not old) parking his Bentley.  Granted this is an expensive car but very over priced (in my opinion).  I watched him park at a very bad angle and when he finally parked, he was well in the car space next to him (which had a car in it) and I noticed he turned off his car, looked out his door and probably realized, he can't get out!  He was too close so he turned his car on again, backed up and proceeded to go straight.  When I say straight, I mean he pulled straight back and went straight forward again so he didn't change his angle at all!  Turned off the car, looked, couldn't get out!  Turned the car on again... at this point I didn't have time to watch him do it again so I went inside the bank.  About maybe 5 minutes later he came in and I never saw what else he did but man, get a smaller car for one and take the time to park the first time maybe?

At the movies:

Smashing it's way to #1 is Creed III taking top honors for it's debut.  A nice 58.7 million to open and some decent word-of-mouth.  The next 5 days will be telling as with all movies though.  Drop down to #2 is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania with 12.5 mil extra as it gets closer to 200 mil cume, very reachable.  Also sliding down to #3 is Cocaine Bear with 11 mil and won't hit 100 mil but will do some nice numbers.  New at #4 is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: To the Swordsmith Village with 10.1 mil and will likely be a very fast burn at the box office. Dropping down to #5 and wrapping things up is Jesus Revolution with 8.7 mil more and will drop off very soon but continue in the after markets.

New movies did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre comes in at #7 with 3.6 mil and had a regular wide release pattern so not very good box office at all.
