Cold and hot, rain and sunny ...

We sure don't know what is going on here with our weather.  In this past week it felt like we went through all the seasons in a year (Or what you would consider normal seasons).  Early in the week it was cool and crisp, like Fall.  Then it got colder and had some rain with clouds, like Winter.  Then it started to get a bit warmer, cloudy and nice ... just like Spring.  Finally, it end of the weekend heated up and got in the 80's again ... just like a cooler Summer.  How can this go so drastic from Monday to Sunday?

Weekly Update:
I discovered this new place down the street from me called Noodle St. What makes this place pretty cool is they make their own noodles there, almost made to order.  I am sure they pre-make some but are fresh daily.  Everything there was so good but the highlight was they have onion pancakes!!  I love these things, they are so tasty and oily ... delicious.  I could do without the oil but don't mind it since its usually sesame oil.  But I can eat a pile of these things.  I also like it when they take beef and role it with the pancake.  Just have to ask no cilantro because traditionally they put a whole of it in there!  It over powers everything  you don't taste the pancake and you wonder if there is even meat in it!  But glad they are near by and not to badly priced I can swing by and get some of my favorite onion pancake!

At the movies:
New #1 this week as Kingsman: The Golden Circle earns a decent 39 million.  Almost right on target and as projected.  Drop down to #2 is "It" with an extra 30 mil as it continues to close in at that 300 mil cume, could be a few more weeks.  New at #3 is Lego Ninjago earning 21.3 mil, slightly close to predictions on this but does not seem to matter as merchandise sales will get a big bump for Lego.  Holding on to #4 is "American Assassin" with 6.3 mil more as it slowly fades out.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Home Again" with 3.3 mil, probably the last time we see it.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Friend Request comes in at #7 with only 2.4 mil and no surprises on that one.

POST 9-11 Tribute

Last Monday was the anniversary of 9/11 and the attacks at the World Trade Centers in New York City, Pentagon and the failed attempt of another airline in PA.  It wasn't forgotten but another event was transpiring, Hurricane Irma and its potential mass destruction.  Now, we can take just a moment to reflect back and remember that day, that event and the moments right after.  I do remember it very well hearing it on the clock radio as it was happening and listening to the DJ's talk about not knowing what they were talking about.  With each snooze the news was all the same and that was unusual because you think its a bit of some kind and it lasts for just a segment.  Later realize what was going on, turned on the news and watched the events transpired and just in complete awe.  Not a morning I will soon forget and haven't.

Weekly Update:
What the heck did I do this week?  Did I do anything?  One thing I know I didn't do was get sleep!  Lot of sleepless nights and all I want to do right now is do what this puppy is doing ... sleeping without a care or worry.  I can't even get a nap for more than 5 minutes or so which is odd because I never could nap before!  I guess I have gotten so tired, I just slightly fall asleep and then wake up moments later realizing I fell asleep!  Oh puppies ... if we can all be like them for just a short time a day, or just a week.  That would be so ... nice.

At the movies:
As expected, a soft weekend with "It" taking the crown at #1 for the 2nd weekend in a row.  Adding another 60 million to its total and over 200 mil cume domestic.  On pace to break 300 mil by the time its said and done.  New at #2 is American Assassin with 14.8 mil, right on projections.  New at #3 is mother! with 7.5 mil and also right on track as expected.  Dropping down to #4 is "Home Again" with another 5.3 mil and home isn't a place to go anymore for this one.  Rounding off the top 5 is "The Hitman's Bodyguard" with an extra 3.6 mil as this one will fade off next week.

Hurricane Watch!

Hurricane Irma hit Florida yesterday and the destruction is only starting as it will carry on for another day up the state.  Some of the smaller islands in the Caribbean are almost completely gone, as much as 90% destruction.  The last hurricane the state suffered with a lot of damage was Andrew back in the 90's.  Irma is at least 3x bigger if not more so her destructive power is also that much more.  Right now it is still running its course and there was a state wide evacuation call.  Completely insane but there is no such things as global warming and Irma is just special effects (sarcasm in case it wasn't clear).  All the theme parks in Florida were closed for at least Sunday and today, unsure if it will extend or not depending on the speed of Irma.  Hope all are safe out there!

Weekly Update:
It started off looking like a busy week.  Then it became a slow week because a bunch of meetings got cancelled.  Now that I don't mind that but at the same time these are pretty useful meetings so hopefully the information won't double up this coming week.  But most of the time I don't care for meetings if they have little content and really just to have them.  I have other things I could be doing or being more productive.  So when a good meeting gets cancelled, that is kind of a bummer but it happens.  Although I will say the times I had to travel for a meeting, 99% of those were such a waste of time and money to just meet someone when it could have been done over the phone or with today's technology, video conferencing.  Those I do not understand.

At the movies:
What a weekend!!  BIG win for both WB and the box office as "IT" comes in at #1 with a HUGE 117.2 million to open, shattering all expectations.  Reviews are good to fair with some saying it was not scary as they had hoped.  But at this rate, sure to break 300 mil unless it drops drastically.  New and at a very distance 2nd is "Home Again" with only 9.3 mil and very close to expectations on that one.  Quick burn out and I guess you can't go home again.  Dropping down to #3 is "The Hitman's Bodyguard" with 4.9 mil more.  Despite being #1 for three weeks it won't break the 100 mil cume ceiling.  Holding at #4 is "Annabelle: Creation" with an extra 4 mil as it inches closer and closer to 100 mil.  I guess WB should stick to the horror genre for a bit.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Wind River" with 3.2 mil and will quickly fade out.

LABOR DAY EDITION

So I am not sure if I quiet understand the concept of Labor Day.  Is it a day we should labor if we don't throughout the year?  Or is a day to celebrate work or working?  I mean, isn't that what the weekend's are for?  Having two days to celebrate and relax and why just one day out of the year to celebrate?  What about those who are unemployed or retired, they get to celebrate year-round but then on this day they get to join us?  None of that seems exactly fair but then I am not sure if I understand why we have this day.  Why are we celebrating work anyway?  Going to the job and enjoying what you do while getting paid ... that seems much better.  Or, is this just anther excuse to barbecue and maybe set off fireworks at night so scare off pets?

Weekly Update:
Not a whole lot went on this week except just work related things.  Pretty boring actually because it was so hot, who wanted to do anything anyway!  I tried to nap a lot, some times successful and other times not so much.  Dogs ... they bard at everything they see or hear.  I really need to make sure I keep the back door blinds shut at those times because a bird, squirrel or someone getting their golf ball, alarm alarm alarm!  Pictured is not either of my dogs but they kind of bark like a small dog sometimes its funny.  At least Orion does which is cute as he tries to be a big barker like his mom.

At the movies:
Labor Day Edition - as expected, this holiday weekend was very soft but that is traditionally how it is.  Remaining at #1 is "The Hitman's Bodyguard" with another 10.5 mil and should now drop down the ranks.  Holding at #2 is "Annabelle: Creation" with 7.5 mil more and could break 100 mil, very close.  At #3 is "Wind River" with 6.2 mil and continues to expand and gain a little.  Holding at #4 is "Leap!" with another 6.6 mil and should quickly burn off after this weekend.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Logan Lucky" with 4.4 mil more and last time we should see it.
