Our weather, for Summer, remains ... cold!  Now granted we don't have ice outside like the picture suggest but it is very cold for us at this time of year.  Light jacket weather during the day but at night it is almost "turn on the heater" temperatures! In the 50's range but it isn't like the Northern party of the US cold.  Just freezing for us down South.  I do wonder if this is helping our mountains and the water supply keeping the ice frozen a bit longer?  I mean that would definitely be a good thing right now and it being cold ideally we are using less water in general.  Who knows about these things!  We are still in a drought!

Weekly Update:
So Sunday night I had the opportunity to check out the new Star Wars Galaxy Edge at Disneyland.  Last week I got to try the new ride out but this trip was the entire land and it is amazing.  You have no idea where you are because the buildings and rock-face go up so high, you forget you are in Disneyland.  Not sure if I mentioned that before or not but just in case.  Every little detail was perfect and you felt out-of-this-world.  My only complaint would be the event itself.  For a semi-exclusive event, it felt worse then being at the parks on a holiday.

At the movies:
Big surprise at the box office as Aladdin comes in at number 1.  Now that isn't the surprise but the 86.1 million opening is!  Above many expectations and will this have legs to carry it to 200-300 mil?  Time will tell!  Drop down to #2 is "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" with 24.4 mil more as it just creeps past the 100 mil cume mark.  Slightly on track to do another 50 or just shy of that.  Slight drop down to #3 is "Avengers: Endgame" with 16.8 mil as it is only inches away from 800 mil cume and should get that in a day or two.  Drop down to #4 is "Pokemon: Detective Pikachu" with 13.3 mil extra and also just past the 100 mil cume mark.  Not a lot in this but did well enough..  Rounding off the top 5 is Brightburn with 7.5 mil to open and below expectations on this horror/thriller.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Booksmart comes in at #6 with only 6.5 mil and pretty close to expectations

It rained!  Finally ... for a few hours on Sunday but then it stopped.  WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!  So more clouds this week, nice, then it heated up a bit one day in the low 80's.  Now Sunday had rain for a bit then sunny the rest of the day.  How come we can not predict the weather more accurately with modern technology??  It said rain all day (which is still odd) but nope, did not happen.  I don't know, weather people are even worse and they can easily be replaced with an app ... which for me, they have.

Weekly Update:
So mid-week I got to do something pretty neat.  I went to the new land at Disneyland and tested the new ride, Smuggler's Run.  Basically you are sitting in the cockpit of a Corellian YT-1300f light freighter or what everyone refers to as the Millennium Falcon.   You are on a snatch and grab mission and each run takes up to 6 people to control it: 2 pilots, 2 gunners and 2 engineers.  It is essentially a more immersed Star Tours but you control it and it is visually improved.  Quiet a ride and can't wait to check it out again soon.

At the movies:
And the crown passes hands as John Wick:  Chapter 3 - Parabellum wins the #1 spot with 57 million to open.  Well above expectations and word-of-mouth is good on this film, should hit 100 mil easily.  Drop down to #2 is "Avengers: Endgame" suffering another above average drop for a 4th week in a row.  Earning an extra 29.4 mil, this will struggle getting more at this point.  Even bigger drop to #3 is  "Pokemon Detective Pikachu" with 24.8 mil but just shy of 100 mil cume mark.  May get that over the next few days. New at #4 is A Dog's Journey with 8 mil and slightly below expectations.  Rounding off the top 5 is "The Hustle" with 6.1 mil and they lost their mark.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as The Sun Is Also a Star comes in at #8 with only 2.6 mil to open.  Below expectations but not surprising either.

So it warmed up pretty good toward the end of the week!  We were cloudy a lot this week and there was the promise of rain but none delivered.  It was cloudy a lot, most days till about noon or 1PM.  I wonder what is going on because as I have mentioned before, this is not normal for us in anyway!  I have on idea where this place is in the picture but it was a nice picture to use.  I do like the clouds, they make things way cooler!  More clouds, all the time please.

Weekly Update:
What happened this week ... nothing, another week of nothing.  But this picture I found is pretty spot on!  Hahaha, that would be a pretty good t-shirt, now I want to find one that has that!  The search is on for a nothing happened t-shirt.  Oh that is a funny story ... so I have a t-shirt that says Flynn's Arcade (from the movie "Tron" and "Tron: Legacy") and every time I wear that go to like Disneyland, someone always comments on it.  I was once leaving a parking lot and the guy in the booth saw my shirt through the window and said, "cool shirt!" I couldn't even see it very well and I was wearing it, it was dark!  What an interesting thing this shirt brings up and I just got it because I thought it was fun and I am a fan of the original Tron movie.  So, who knew and I wonder if I should get a back up for when this one wears out!

At the movies:
Hanging on to the #1 crown for a third week (and possibly final) is "Avengers: Endgame" with another 63.1 mil and now over 700 mil cume.  The drops though are above average though which is a bit surprising.  This film will definitely fall short of a billion domestic.  New at #2 is Pokemon Detective Pikachu with a surprising 58 million!  Above all expectations and word-of-mouth is good on this film.  Should easily break 100 mil sooner than later.  New at #3 is The Hustle with 13.5 mil and right on expectations for this film.  Hanging on to the #4 spot is "The Intruder" with another 6.6 mil and not much more on this one.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Long Shot" with another 6.1 mil and also this rom-com is about out.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Coming in at #6 is Poms with 5.1 mil and below expectations but not surprising.  Clearly was going for the Mother's Day crowd but couldn't find it going to see this film.  One other film that came in with about 1400 runs is Tolkien but only showed up at #9 with 2.2 mil.

And it continues to remain ... cool!  It is almost cold but not freezing.  I am fine either cold, cool or freezing to be honest.  As I always say, it is easier to warm up than to cool down or usually cooling down requires money like using the AC where as warming up, put in heavier or more cloths!  But I must say this is very unseasonable weather for us.  Also had a lot of very cloudy days with the tease of rain yet ... no rain and hence the tease instead.  Seriously though our weather patterns are so out of whack like they used to be.  VERY clear evidence of global warming just solely based on historical patterns alone.  I would love to go solar power for the house but the costs are just so high that it could take several years till it pays for itself.  So is it worth it?  Plus the approval process being part of a fairly strict HOA and can they withstand the impact of a golf ball strike!

Weekly Update:
This week was a pretty busy week!  With several meetings and going on and an event to attend which was like a meeting ... in fact a meeting would have been preferred over that event because, it was boring.  But I did find one of the meetings this week pretty productive, I just wish it lasted longer but because it started very late we lost time there.  It is nice connecting with folks from another state that you do not get to see but a few times a year and catch up.  And they have a nice demeanor instead of that unapproachable "boss" type so it makes for a pleasant encounter.  But nonetheless, meetings and more meetings.  Glad this week is over because of all of that.

At the movies:
As expected, "Avengers: Endgame" holds the lead for another week with an extra 148.8 mil.  It is a significant drop though compared to today's average but it now puts it over 600 mil cume.  Looks like it will be shy of 1 billion but time will tell as we approach Summer.  New at #2 is The Intruder with a distant 11 mil to open.  About at expectations for this film as well and will burn out fast.  New at #3 is Long Shot and below expectations.  It may be a comedy but felt more like a drama from the ads which could be the cause for the low opening.  New at #4 is Ugly Dolls with only 8.5 mil to open and may have come out too soon actually.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Captain Marvel" with another 4.3 mil as it slows down it's jets.
