Corn all over!!

It's Oscar Sunday again and to be honest, not excited at all for it.  Still feels too soon for this type of event and gathering and the movies this year just not mind-blowing or proactive.  There was still some good movies but nothing that outstanding for me this past year.  I wonder if it just feels off since there was no real Golden Globes and other awards like there was in the past.  Things are slowly coming back but also feels like so many are rushing.  I'm not evening watching or recording them this year... just feels so blah to me.  Hopefully it's a good night for all, just not vested in checking it out this year.

Weekly Update:

I had some TV dinners this week and have you ever noticed if there is corn (or any small veg like peas), that the small veg ends up all over the meal?  So the two dinners both had corn, but then I had corned corn, corned brownie, corned potato and corned chicken.  You know what is funny, it all taste fine with corn!  I mean even the corned brownie wasn't that bad!  But thinking back on my youth and growing up on eating TV dinners a lot, there was also tiny veggies all over the meal.  Mostly due to the clear seal not always being sealed all the way.  Still going to eat it and do not mind mixing some foods up... so not a big deal.

At the movies:

Oscar weekend and some movement this week's at the box office!  New at #1 is The Lost City with 31 million for it's debut.  Nothing really exciting coming out on this movie so unsure how a 2nd weekend will do.  Drop down to #2 is "The Batman" with 20.5 mil extra as it continues along.  New at #3 is RRR with 9.5 mil and really nothing on this movie.  Dropping down to #4 is "Uncharted" with 5 mil extra and slowly heading out.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Jujutsu Kaisen O: The Movie" with another 4.6 mil and will not go too much further.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one again this week, coming in at #10 is Infinite Storm with only 751K with a very poor showing per screen average.

Sleepy with a side of daylight

I am seriously tired, this week has just been so long and...well long! Nothing was different that I could tell except it was a very dry week weather wise. But I think I am still adjusting to the time change probably and just haven't been able to adapt yet. Still waking up to darkness but now when the day is done I still have 1 to 2 hours left of sunlight. I am not sure if that is good or bad because it could be more hours of warm to hot weather and that is not good. I just want some rain, any kind of rain... moisture maybe?  I fear this Summer is going to be both super hot and super dry by all indications from this past Winter. Global warming is a thing people, it is getting worse and I try to at least recycle and save... I know I could do more but at least I try.

Weekly Update:

I may need a new computer... I mean I hope not but my current one seems to be slowing down but I don't do a lot on it other than web surfing, watching movies via Plex and play one, maybe 2 games but usually only one. I mean overall it's fine but it was doing some pausing and reset and I think I have at least 16 megs of ram so space is good.  I do a lot of external storage so I know it's not a hard drive thing, just been acting up.  I want to say it's about 5-years old which is is kind of old for computers but what I use it for and how much I use it, it's really not that bad.  I do like the Alienware brand but maybe I should switch to Dell XPS... ultimately they are the same parent company but we'll see.  I'll keep using this one till it completely crashes, just have to remember to keep storing things externally.

At the movies:

A little but of a shift this week with some new movies coming in from very small distributors!  Still holding on to #1 is "The Batman" earning an extra 36.8 million and now just hit the 300 mil mark for domestic box office!  Still solid word-of-mouth and no doubt will get to 400 easily.  New at #2 is Jujutsu Kaisen O: The Movie with 17.7 mil and this one kind of came out of no where for me.  Slight dip to #3 is "Uncharted" with 8 mil more and steadily declining slowly.  New at #4 is X with 4.4 mil in it's debut, not much more on this one.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Dog" with 4.1 mil and did a solid 50 mil overall which has become a new milestone since re-opening.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week again as The Outfit comes in at #8 earning 1.5 mil.

Beep beep!!

A little levelling off in the weather department.  All week it was cool to cold but consistent which is nice but, we need rain!!!  Nights were cold, high 50's to low 60's and days were low 70's, all nice jacket weather which I love.  I have so many jackets but rarely get to wear them because it's always too warm or hot around here. But as always, where is the rain, we need the rain.  I know it's not something we can work on or flip a switch but more of hope it rains sooner than later.  And also stays for awhile to fill up our water tanks and washing away all the grime and soot that has been collecting as the world goes back to normal and all the cars back on the road.  I guess staying nice and cool is good for now, it does save on some energy like not using the AC which is always the most expensive thing to run in a house it seems.

Weekly Update:

So gas pricing are pretty dang high and yet there is so much traffic!!  Obviously it's not affecting people as they are still crowding the streets and freeways and not doing alternative modes of transportation like carpools and mass transit.  I've always said I wouldn't mind paying more if it means less traffic but I guess EVERYONE is thinking the same!  I went to Costco and other errands on Saturday, everything was packed on the roads and that is no joke.  The line for gas at Costco was about 20+ cars for each pump row.  So obviously, it's not affecting people that much as they are still hoarding the roads and getting all the gas.  I just don't understand... everything seems like a contradiction and I preferred it when we were closed and there was hardly any cars on the road.  I only went out to do my 3 stops and came right home.

At the movies:

Holding ground at #1 is "The Batman" with 66 million more and now well over 200 mil.  On course to hit 300 mil within the next 10-days to 2 weeks. Solid word-of-mouth continues to keep this one steady.  Also holding on to #2 is "Uncharted" with 9.3 mil as it slowly declines.  New at #3 is BTS Permission to Dance on Stage one day event earning 6.8 mil.  Being a one-time event, did some big numbers across the country.  Drop down to #4 is "Dog" with 5.3 mil as it should pass 50 mil cume soon.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Spider-Man: No Way Home" with 4.1 mil as it closing in on 800 mil and should reach that before it's done at the box office.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week in semi-wide release (800 screens) is Radhe Shyam in the #7 spot with 1.8 mil.  Not a great number but we have seen worse.

Turning Batman

During my week, my neighbor had something happened... I was coming home Tuesday night and there was a fire engine and ambulance near my house.  I parked and went over and a fireman came out asking, "Are you Tony?" My neighbor apparently clipped his leg and bled every where. They took him to the hospital and I had took his little dog Minnie home with me.  He later called me that night to come pick him up and no idea why he was bleeding and he bled every where on his floor.  But when I brought Minnie back over, she was so excited to be back home.  It was a crazy night and didn't get to sleep till about almost 2AM after my event, picking up the neighbor and bringing the dog back... I was wired up.

Weekly Update:

Had a very busy week this past week! Ended up seeing two movies mid-week and it kept me busy and tired!  So on Tuesday, attended the movie premier of Disney/Pixar's "Turning Red" and the event itself was really fun and the movie was great!  I do not understand the decision to not have this debut in theatres and just on Disney+, major miss on this.  But I hope it does great but there isn't a way to gauge that accurately.  Then on Wednesday I ended up going back to LA for a screening of "The Batman" and that was also a solid and good movie.  This movie felt like it all happened in a weekend or just a few days.  It was also like following along the movie solving the clues and figuring out... well, the riddles from The Riddler.  The numbers were amazing with this movie and 2nd biggest opening since reopening (or the closing, depending on how you look at it).  Go out and see some movies... or stay home and watch Disney+ which you will not get that same theatrical experience.

At the movies:

BIG weekend for "The Batman" with a huge 128.5 million for it's debut.  Very solid number, and word-of-mouth is strong on this remake and new cast.  Should get to 200 mil in no time at this rate.  Drop down to #2 is "Uncharted" with 11 mil extra and now hit the 100 mil mark.  Rippling down to #3 is "Dog" with 6 mil as it tries to hit 50 cume domestic. Swinging down to #4 is "Spider-Man: No Way Home" with 4.4 mil as it chugs along. Rounding off the top 5 is "Death on the Nile" with 2.7 mil as it also starts to close out for new films coming in.
