And just like that, the rain went away and it was back to warmer temperatures again.  I certainly do not get it, we went from being in the high 50's during the day (like it was Winter or something) to mid 70's.  Nights were semi-warm that I even slept with a window open o a couple of nights!  At least it is not in the 80's (yet) but then does this mean ... our Summer this year will be extremely hot??  This will be interesting to find out but at the same time I sure hope not!  Our last Summer was just OK but it did have some crazy hot days.  OK, let's wait and observe this to see if that happens!

Weekly Update:

What went on this week ... Still battling this cough, it simply will not go away and it is so annoying.  So, taking cough syrup, cough drops almost every 30 minutes, nasal spray (but I think it may be empty), being warm, Vicks vapor rub (tried it on the chest and in my humidifier), a humidifier, NyQuil one night, soda (the fizzes) and hot shower with a lot of steam.  NOTHING is working and I think I made it mad or something with all my attempts to get rid of it, it's fighting me back!  I've had coughs in the past that linger but not really to this intensity that when I cough, its big whopping sessions.

At the movies:
Not a lot of changes this week as "Glass" has the #1 spot earning an extra 19.1 mill and getting closer to that 100 mil cume mark.  Could reach it in another 2 weeks at this current pace.  Holding strong at #2 is "The Upside" with 12.2 mil and still getting good word-of-mouth.  Coasting around at #3 is "Aquaman" with 7.4 mil as it slowly comes to an end.  New at #4 is The Kid Who Would Be King with 7.3 mil and pretty much as expected.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" with 6.2 mil as this will fall short of breaking the 200 mil cume mark.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Serenity comes in at #8 with only 4.8 mil.  Well below expectations but not by much.

Martin Luther King, Jr Edition

Every third Monday of January we celebrate and recognize a great man. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, who was assassinated way before his time.  He was a leader of inspiration and hope.  He fought both racism and fear.  Promoted love and compassion.  And for all of this he was killed.  He was killed because he wanted a united country and equality for everyone of every race, culture and age ... I guess that was too much of a radical idea.  We struggle.

Weekly Update:
RAIN!!!!!  We had some great rain this week but come Friday it was all gone and dried up.  I discovered part of my backyard drains are a bit clogged so I did try kitchen de-clogger so I hope that may work or help a little bit. But it was so good to have some good solid rain for a few days.  Also love hearing the rain come down and just wash all the dust and dirt away for a bit.  We can use more of this but the forecast calls for warmer temps and sunny days.  I don't understand this weather anymore.  Well, global warming is a myth so none of this is real anyway I suppose.  I just made it all up.

At the movies:
A new #1 again this week as Glass shatters its way to the top.  Coming in with 40.6 mil and spot on expectations, should be on track to hit 100 mil.  Small drop to #2 is "The Upside" with another 15.7 mil and continues to roll along.  Holding ground at #3 is "Aquaman" with 10.3 mil as it now passes the 300 mil cume mark.  Should cap out around another quarter.  New at #4 out from left field and unexpected is Dragon Ball Z Super: Broly with 8.7 mil.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" as it continues to win more awards this past weekend at the PGA.  Earning an extra 7.3 mil, it will struggle to reach 200 mil cume and unlikely at that.

Cough cough cough ... I can not shake this cough!  And now its a dry cough like I am trying to scratch an itch and I can't!  It is so annoying and been taking all kinds of meds along with a humidifier.  I am not sure what is going on but just so tired of it.  When I drink some soda, it helps, probably from the fizz maybe.  But not going away ... doesn't even feel like its getting any better as the days go by.  I am not sure what is the cause now.  About a month ago it was the cold but didn't get a cough.  Now I have a cough but I don't think it was from the cold because I didn't really feel congested that much from it.  I need to figure it out!

Weekly Update:

So along with this cough, I have been using my humidifier but it gets this big calcium build up over the heating element.  Turns out this is all from the water and is normal. In the past I would chip it away but it does leave marks on the element which I am sure is not good for it.  I read that vinegar helps remove it so I tried some (didn't have a lot) and the next morning like 70% of it was gone!  So I went out and bought more vinegar and also distilled water and did it again.  Most of it is gone now except the very top but it should be fine.  I've ran the humidifier now for 3 nights using the distilled water and no new build up.  This has sure saved me from buying a new humidifier (3 gallons of distilled water + 1 gallon vinegar = @$5.00, new humidifier = @$30.00).
At the movies:
Uplift with The Upside this weekend with a nice #1 win!  Earning a respectable 19.6 million, almost on target, this unlikely buddy movie warmed the Winter season hearts.  Slight drop to  #2 is "Aquaman" with another 17.3 mil as it closes in at 300 mil cume, could reach that within 2 more weeks.  Finding it's way to #3 is A Dog's Way Home with 11.3 mil and slightly below expectations.  Clinging on to #4 is "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" with 9 mil more.  Rounding off the 5 spot is "Escape Room" with 8.9 mil extra and this one will soon be out on its own.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week as Replicas comes in at #12 with 2.5 mil and way below expectations.  It would need to replicate its opening x10 to get to where they had hoped to be.

Now this is what Winter is all about!  Cold cold and cold!  I do wish for some rain, any rain.  Supposed to rain next week so hopefully that is true.  I did rain a little bit this week but did not last very long at all.  Been pretty cloudy like it will rain, fooled us!  But I still enjoy the cold and heavy clouds even without rain (picture not taken by me).  It at least gives the illusion it might rain or drizzle and thus bringing a SoCali Winter.  But we could sure use some falling water please!  Just a day would be nice to clean up the dirt and layers of smog every where.  We need it ever so badly and any little bit would help.

Weekly Update:
Attended the 76th Annual Golden Globe after-parties this year.  Didn't get to a viewing party but that is OK because by the time I got there, it was already quieted down from traffic and congestion since the show as already going.  But overall not a very eventful night but managed just a few pics with some people:

*Richard Kind - comedy actor and does many voices such as Bing Bong in "Inside Out," great guy!
*Anthony Carrigan - from the TV series "Gotham" and really nice guy.
*Hiroyuki Sanada - from "47 Ronin" and "The Last Samurai," AWESOME guy!
*Michael B. Jordan - from "Creed" and a nice guy.

At the movies:
The seas still rule for a third week in a row as "Aquaman" takes in another 30.7 million and now just over 250 mil cume.  On track to break 300 domestic and good word-of-mouth is bringing in those not into the superhero scene.  New at #2 is Escape Room at 18 mil and above expectations.  Not bad for this week between the old and new year.  Holding to #3 is "Mary Poppins Returns" with 15.7 mil as it continues to do fair numbers.  Down at #4 is "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" with 13 mil and may make it to 150 mil cume for domestic. Rounding off the top 5 is "Bumblebee" with 12.8 mil extra and should get to 100 mil any day now but will disappear after that.
