I am not sure what is wrong with Firefox these days. Taking a LOOOONG time to load a page and then I am starting to time out now. What is the dealio!? Is nothing working these days?? Well, it still functions better than internet explorer however IE is still my choice of browsers over Firefox. Is Firefox associated with Google ... because Google just flat out sucks.

Weekly Recap:

Survived another heat wave and it was extremely humid again. VERY similiar to Florida weather and VERY un-Southern Californian. Saturday the heat broke a bit however the humidity decided to stay around for the surf. On Wednesday went to the
OC Fair, a yearly tradition and always a good time. This year it was burgers and homemade chips that were really good. Didn't get to funnel cake because the chips really fill you up. The theme this year was "Flower Power", it should have been "run inside and stay cool".

On Thursday I drove down to Del Mar to the racetrack for a theatre chain event, again warm and sticky but the food was great (love their shrimp cocktail). I won the first race which was cool and lost from there, however in the end I did walk away with an extra $5.00 thanks to the first race. Its a good afternoon and its "where the turf meets the surf", the track is right next to the ocean.

At the movies:
Cops over Pirates this week, Universals
Miami Vice steals the box office lead opening with 25.2 million. However the swashbucklers were not to be outdone and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" still takes the #2 spot with an additional 20.5 mil and a cume of 358.4 making it now 11th highest all time box office movie surpassing "Finding Nemo", "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers", and "Jurassic Park" (14, 13, and 12 respectively). Just another 12 mil and it will overtake "The Passion of the Christ" in the #10 spot at 371 mil. New in the #3 spot is Fox's John Tucker Must Die scoring up 14.1 mil and holding in at #4 is Sony's "Monster House" with an additional 11.5 mil. Debuting in the #5 spot is WB's The Ant Bully with a very tiny 8.1 mil opener. I am sure WB can't be happy with that given the voice talents behind this animated summer flop.

One movie opened in limited engagement (7 screens) from Fox Searchlight called Little Miss Sunshine. This is a family who's "normal" was thrown out the door. The movie took the #18 spot this week with $485,000 which is very strong considering only 7 screens (average of 50,000+ per). The story is about a 7-year old girl (Olive) who gets a spot in the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant in Redondo Beach, California. The family must trek from Arizona to the pageant to help Olive win her life-long dream of being Little Miss Sunshine and the family pulls together long enough to make sure she gets there. I highly recommend this heart-warming and dark comedy to everyone!

Q & A:

Blonde- That is EXACTLY the scene from "Singin in the Rain" where the clip came from, excellent memory and I think you got the quote word for word! Awesome movie! Sad how it use to be part of the MGM library but now belongs to WB (via the Turner deal).

Other News:
Just recently the fighting in Baghdad took a spike for the worst and they are moving reserves from Kuwait. The current system and police are simply not working and the death toll for both soldiers and civilians is increasing along with the failing infra-structure of both government and utilities. Then you throw in the stalemate progress in Afghanistan, mix in a bit of South Lebanon and its just a hodge podge of explosions and turmoil. Left picture is of a Blackhawk helicopter at dusk in Iraq. Right picture of an Israeli SP Gun near the Lebanon border.

Tips & Facts:
