The heat is ON!

This past week in SoCali was a heat wave with humidity!  Well, for us the humidity was pretty high (mid 50's percent) and the temps high 80's, low 90's so it was really hot for us.  Nights continue to remain cool in the 60's and low 70's thankfully and just hope it continues that way! But I did go out on Thursday at the parks (Disneyland / California Adventure) and had a great time with a friend and made new friends.  Got to do some things I haven't done in a long time (Star Tours for example) and finally got to see the Pixar Fest parade which was short but fun.  We got lucky and had nice seats in the shade for it as well.  But I hope we have a short Summer, however now that I said that, it will probably be a very long one.

Weekly Update:

Panera has been running this deal called the Free Half Entrée with any $5 purchase.  It sounds like a great day but they are a little tricky about it. I would call it a scam or anything, just "good move, Panera, good move." So, I find something on their menu that is JUST over $5, a chocolates croissant for example and I go to order a half sandwich from there.  BUT, the give me a deal and the croissant is only $2.50, half off, turns out all the baked goods are!  So it no longer qualifies for $5 and sure I could get 2 of them but most of the time, they only have one left!  So instead I end up getting a half salad which is like $9 or a bowl of mac and cheese which is also around that price so I end up spending almost double that I wanted to simply get a free 1/2 sandwich.  Touché Panera!

At the movies:

New at #1 comes spinning in, Twisters earns a hefty 80.5 million for it's debut.  Not a whole lot on the film but it should break 100 mil in no time.  Slight drop to #2 is Despicable Me 4 with 23.8 mil extra as it hits north of 250 mil and continues it's way to 300.  Holding at #3 is Inside Out 2 with 12.8 mil as it's just shy of 600 and should be there any day now.  Drop down to #4 is Longlegs with 11.7 mil as it continues it's descent.  And rounding off the top 5 is A Quiet Place: Day One with another 6.1 mil and will soon be wrapping up its run.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one this week in a limited release pattern.  At #8 is Bad Newz with 1.1 mil and a per screen average of only $2245 which isn't good.
