Remembering 9/11

Last Thursday was the 7th anniversary of the horrific attacks against the US when several commercial planes were hijacked and used as weapons. I remember that tragic morning as I woke up listening to what I thought were outrageous news skits on the radio to only turn on the television to see it all happen live with constant playback of the shocking events. Watching the towers collapse is still clear in my mind and the shock across the world it brought. With our war in Afghanistan and Iraq still raging on, it is sad to know that the death toll of US Soldiers in Iraq since the conflict has now surpassed those killed from both towers that day what is now known as 9/11.

Weekly Update:
Not much to mention this week, it was a cooler week temperature wise and just overall nice. No major traffic issues, went to a nice concert on Friday night to celebrate the Korean Harvest Festival (no idea what that is but it was fun). I guess this past week was ... normal? Hard to think what the weeks were before with all the drama at my old job as that becomes more and more distant. I do hear that nothing has changed and things have even gotten worse or much more chaotic as the stuff I use to do are quickly falling through the cracks. I always told them if they need help or anything to just call ... but nothing. The offer will always be there, but is their pride to big to ask? I have always believed in making life and work easier not just for me but for everyone. However, there are those who don't understand that concept. Well, what can you do ... what can you do.

At the movies:
A pretty good showing for the post-summer films this week as the off-comedy of Burn After Reading takes top honors with 19.4 million. New at #2 is Tyler Perry's The Family that Preys with 18 mil and really, does his name have to be in every title he does? Showing up at #3 is the drama Righteous Kill with 16.5 mil and I would say pretty low number considering the caliber of talent in this film. The number is a little higher than I projected though. Coming in at #4 is The Women with 10 mil and unfortunately that is the final release for our friends at Picturehouse Films as they close their doors. Rounding off the top 5 this week is "The House Bunny" with another 4.3 mil.

Other News:
Nearly 2,000 victims are rescued from Hurricane Ike's path of destruction in Texas. The death toll rose to 25 in nine states as rescuers work around the clock to save folks from the devastation and flooding on Sunday. Ike also leaves millions of people without power across Texas and parts of Louisiana. The 2,000 plus people that needed to be saved apparently were folks who ignored evacuation orders and of course paid the price dearly for it. Now as Ike moves further North, it is becoming nothing more than a heavy rain but the damage is done and this isn't the end of hurricane-season. Rescue teams continue to search and have vowed to keep working till they have knocked on every door in all the flooded areas. Receding flood waters help the effort but it is still a long process as they head into their 2nd day of rescue operations. Of course the flood is just one problem as the the force of Ike alone destroyed hundreds of homes in its path.

we live in such interesting times. I was thinking about you this week because we PAID somebody to come and hook up our home entertainment theatre and it was a joke!!! We are so DUMB! I thought to myself, "if tony were here he'd know exactly what to do. And he wouldn't even criticize me to my face for telling me how to do it either...". You're such a nice person.
