Fire and rain, what a combo! Last week some huge black clouds rolled in right after I got my car washed, of course. Then later in the week, fire! Between the two, life as usual really. Too bad the rain didn't come at the same time as the fire but luckily the fires was very short but bellowed pretty big.

Weekly Update:
Went to a couple of cool events last week. From a small indie premiere to a fun "adopt a firehouse" event! In the process, I got to meet some pretty cool folks:

The premiere was The TV Set which the cool part was, I was a guest of Sigourney Weavers! Much better experience from that side of going to one of these events. Being a guest of hers, I got to meet a bunch of folks:

*Sigourney Weaver- An incredible person, was an extreme pleasure to finally meet her and be one of her guest!!
*Ioan Gruffudd- AWESOME guy and this was my 2nd time meeting him.
*Judy Greer- Very nice and approachable person.
*Fran Kranz- Nice guy.
*Lindsay Sloane- Really nice person and quiet appealing.
*Justine Bateman- Yep, Mallory Keaton! Nice person.
*Mike White- Cool guy, pretty mellow.
*Illeana Douglas- Very nice person.

The other event was for an upcoming film called Firehouse Dog which is catered to the kids and family. The event was adopting a fire station and had all kinds of activities. At the event there was some folks from the movie which was cool:

*Josh Hutcherson- Really nice kid, already in a bunch of films and I am sure lots on the way!
*Bruce Greenwood- Cool guy and very friendly.
*Mayte Garcia- Very sweet lady, pleasure to meeting her.

At the movies:
Ice ice baby as Blades of Glory takes the box office gold with 33 million. Not a bad number but I am sure folks were looking towards closer to 50 on this one. Stepping in through time at the #2 spot is the animated film Meet the Robinsons with a very decent 25 mil. Still holding the line at #3 after 4 week is "300" with a reinforced 11.2 mil and a cume now of well over 175 mil in this non-seasonal time frame. Suffering a HUGE drop and seeing turtle soup hit the restaurants early is "TMNT" at #4 with only 9.2 mil, that is a big dip of over 60%. Rounding off the top 5 is the motorcycle comedy "Wild Hogs" with an extra 8.4 mil.

New to the box office that didn't make the top 5: Only one film but it did have a lower release but not limited was the suspense film The Lookout with only 2 mil.

Comment Response:
What is funny is that I missed Elizabeth Shue that same day so I only have one Shue ... lost the other Shue. As for the other comment, I would agree with you however there are other countries coming into the scene that are oil producing and in fact about to go huge. Also the Saudi's supply is still very vast. I do think think it would be cool if we can tap into electromagnetic energy but then that takes away from Bush and his buddies. Blonde- what happened to your blog??

Other News:
So this is a little interesting, violence in Iraq spiked pretty high this past week. Between US and mostly civilians killed, it was a very tragic and bloody week. At the same time, gas went up about another 20 to 30 cents a gallon. Seems like an awfully huge spike there.

Here is an interesting little news story, San Francisco is about to pass legislation that will ban the use of plastic bags in the city. Alternatives must be a bio-degradable plastic, cloth or paper. What is that going to do to the balance of plastic bags and the wierd ties they put on the top for Asians??? The balance will be lost! How are people in the city going to be able to park at a parking meter and not have to pay by just putting a pink plastic bag over it and writing "broken" on it? I mean that is such an official method and all. Well, I think SF is in store for a big storm comin! Okok, the real story is they are trying to reduce the amount of non-bio-degradable materials in the landfill which makes complete sense. The city even handed out canvas bags so people can reuse them over and over again. Not a bad idea by any means.

Facts & Tips:
In 1900, 1/3 of all automobiles in New York City were powered by electricity.

"I think that if we gave Reese a little more responsibility, he would rise to the challenge. Now, I'm not talking about giving him a key to the house or anything."- Jane Kaczmarek as Lois from the TV series "Malcolm in the Middle"

At least you are not Shue-less, McDuck!

I love Sigourney Weaver: unusual beauty, intelligent, successful in both comic/dramatic roles.

Blog ID needed redoing--I'll fill you in later.

Bateman--watched her in a flick recently; kind-of cheesy material (she woke up with amnesia--so "Lifetime"), but she's pretty & likable.
