GOLDEN GLOBE EDITION

Sunday night was the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards!  75 years where it all started in a small venue with just a few people handing out recognition from press to entertainment members.  Now, it is the largest entertainment award event and the first that starts off each and every year.  I personally prefer the Globes over all the other shows because its not just movies but TV and music in movies.  It also kind of sets the pace and stage for future awards.  But overall, its a good event despite some criticism but  you will always have that no matter what for any award show because people will always disagree simply because they preferred something else.

Weekly Update:
Had a fairly busy week but some events took place which were cool.  On Friday, A24 (small independent production and distribution company) had a pre-Golden Globe party for some of their nominated films and talent. I got to run into some people there who were all very amazing.  I will say this, the venue was small and the food was just OK:

*Laurie Metcalf - best known as Sheldon's mom in "The Big Bang Theory" and was nice.
*James Franco - known for several "stoner" type of films and a really nice guy.
*Greta Gerwig - writer/director for "Lady Bird" but an actress as well, super nice!
*Willem Dafoe - best known from "Platoon" and a really cool guy!

Then on Sunday was the annual Golden Globes as I watched it from our friends FOX Viewing party.  This may be the last time they do a party but we shall see what happens in the coming future.  But while there I did manage a few pics, not as many as in the past:

*Richard Jenkins - recently from "The Shape of Water" and a really nice guy.
*Sally Hawkins - female lead from "The Shape of Water" and very sweet.
*Alfred Molina - so many movies but one that stands out is "Spider-Man 2" as Dr. Octopus and a terrific guy!
*Sam Humphrey - from "The Greatest Showman" and very cool guy!
*Heidi Klum - Fashion icon and very sweet.
*Nick Jonas - from the recent Jumanji movie and an OK guy.
*Mariah Carey - Singer/Actress and to be fair I didn't really get to talk to her as it was quick and out.

At the movies:
BIG surprise at the box office as "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" gets a boost to #1 earning an extra 36 million and now past 200 mil cume!  With all the media push and good word-of-mouth, this film could reach post 300 mil!  New at #2 is Insidious: The Last Key with 29.3 mil and close to expectations, should do well overall.  Big drop to #3 is "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" with another 23.6 mil but still on track to break 600 domestic cume.  Holding ground at #4 is "The Greatest Showman" with an extra 13.8 mil and now on track to get to 100 mil. Rounding off the top 5 is "Pitch Perfect 3" with 10.2 mil more and crawling to reach 100 mil cume.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one as Molly's Game comes in at #7 with 7 mil and pretty much as expected.
