STAR WARS EDITION

New movie opened on Thursday night shattering pre-sale and box office records!  Numbers for pre-sale tickets reached as high as 100 mil and thousands of movies do not even get that high for a total box office from start to finish!  To get that before you even open is incredible!  The overall reaction has been very positive but in today's social media age, you will get quick reactions, both negative and positive along with spoilers.  But I am very surprised with the amount of shocking moments in the film, you really did not see any spoilers online!  At least without a warning, those that did give spoilers at least warned you before you decided you wanted to continue reading or not.

Weekly Update:
So we had our big event at work and it went off with some very minor hic-ups but overall I think a great success.  It was a Star Wars Day, all day, with provided food, activities, droids and more!  Contests, games, original Star War movies playing and then after that ... shuttle buses to the movie theatre to see the new Star Wars with popcorn and drink!  Pretty nice package being paid for by work and all you had to do is RSVP before and not call in sick!  It was a big relief after the film ended and getting back to the car at the office knowing it was done, everyone got back when they wanted (or stayed at Downtown Disney for shopping and fun).  I tried to sleep in as long as  I could the following morning ... I can't remember if I succeeded or not.

At the movies:
The box office has awaken ... it has been awhile since we have seen numbers like this and record breaking numbers at that.  The bar has been set again and it will be a very long time till this one is toppled.  In at #1 with a shattering box office gross is Star Wars: The Force Awaken," the seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise bringing in a 4-day total of 238 million.  Just 9 mil over our predictions but overall above par for everyone!  With the solid word-of-mouth and reviews this film should go on to at least 700 mil domestic and break that 1 billion worldwide shortly.  This is a great number for the industry and will help end 2015 on a very high note!  New at #2 is "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip" with 14.4 mil and slightly below expectations.  Normally this franchise has had higher openings but was up against the juggernaut this weekend.  Also new at #3 is Sisters with only 13.4 mil, lower than expectations as well and not the same counter-programming Universal was hoping for unlike Episode 1.  Dropping down to #4 is "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" with 5.7 mil and about to cap out soon.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Creed" with another 5.1 mil and will also cap out soon but hopefully make that 100 mil cume mark before it does.
