Long time listener, first time caller...

Have you never noticed at certain times during the day when listening to the radio, they may play an extra long song?  The one I hear often is Paradise City by Guns-n-Roses which is a 4+ minute song.  That may not sound like a long time but the average song sits about 2 to 2 1/2 minutes.  So why do they usually play this song or another long one (Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen comes to mind)?  Usually it's a shift change from one DJ to the next or if you are working alone, you need a song long enough to to the bathroom!  When I used to do college radio back in the day, I would play this one song that was 9 mins (might have been longer) depending on what I needed to do.  I can't remember the song right now but it was from the 80's and kind of an alt rock song.  I want to say it was something from the Cocteau Twins but I think I'm mistaken.  But these songs usually give people enough time to get themselves set up before their shirt starts on the radio or, as mentioned, run to the restroom if you are working solo (which in college radio you are always solo).

Weekly Update:

The world is in turmoil... but what is interesting (and funny at the same time) is the current symbol for the fight for justice and equality... the pirate flag from One Piece.  I am not familiar with the show in general, I have only seen the live action on from Netflix and it was pretty good and looking forward to seeing season 2.  But in Nepal and Malaysia the pirate flag with the straw hat can be seen waving next to the countries flag as it's people are in all out revolution and succeeding.  How far will this movement and symbol go?  I hope it continues to fly and soar across the globe as it's not just a simple but an idea... the idea of freedom and equality.  The idea of being able to live and not be broke or homeless.  The idea of opportunity and its been working.

At the movies:

Taking the box office by storm is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity earning a huge 70 million for a post season, non-holiday weekend.  This number is pretty significant for a number reasons as schools are back and this is generally that target audience.  Drop down to #2 is The Conjuring: Last Rites with 26.1 mil more and now over the 100 mil mark, potentially on the way to 200.  New at #3 is Downtown Abbey: The Grand Finale with 18.1 mil and will stay consistent but low.  New at #4 is The Long Walk with 11.5 mil and will have a short walk out.  Semi-new at #5 is the Toy Story 30th Anniversary release earning 3.5 mil of pure profit.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Coming in at #9 is Spinal Tap II: The End Continues with 1.7 mil and less than $1000 per screen average.  This film should have came out 10-years (or more) ago.  In at #10 is The Sound of Music 60th Anniversary with 1.5 mil and had a better average with $1,232 and also one that is pure profit.

Facts & Tips:

The human circulatory system is more than 60,000 miles long.

"I think if your clients want to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try - but there's no requirement that I enjoy sitting here listening to people lie. You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook, where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients, are intellectually or creatively capable of doing." - Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network.
