some like it hot hot HOT!

Someone turned up the heat this week!  Wow, we got in the mid 90's and some areas in the inland empire were over 100!  I hope this will be our peak but who knows at this point.  And with weather like this, it reminds me of the one-hit wonder "Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter (as a solo artist).  But I knew him more as an actor in two great films, Scrooged and my all time favorite Let It Ride.  He recently passed away (this past February) and was also known as David Roger Johansen.  Not sure what made me remember him, I guess the weather and his one-hit wonder song which I think I own the CD on a single.  But his song, this weather... they go well together right now because it is hot, Hot, HOT!

Weekly Update:

I had a big experience this past weekend hanging out with some folks from Florida who were at the parks pin trading.  Wow how things have come a long way since I used to pin trade in the early 2000's!  But there was a bunch of people in the Frontierland area off to the side with all their pin books and doing trades with other traders... and knowing the values and series and where they came from.  I just got pins on if I liked them or not and didn't really get collections or things of that nature.  I used to look for "Hidden Mickey's" but that doesn't really seem to be a big deal anymore but still are there.  It was just amazing how many pins I saw but also, none of the ones I have or had, seemed like a lot of newer stuff from the last couple of years?  Are mine even valuable or wanted anymore?  But I primarily collected to keep ones I wanted so I suppose it doesn't matter.  But what an interesting Disney sub-culture that was to experience.

At the movies:

For a third week in a row, Weapons holds #1 for a decent 15.6 million as it passes the 100 mil mark!  End of the Summer has been good for this film and doing very well.  Holding at #2 is Freakier Friday with 9.2 mil as it gets closer to 100 mil but will struggle and may not reach it.  Back up to #3 is The Fantastic Four: First Steps with 5.9 mil as it continues to wind-down.  Drop down to #4 is Nobody 2 with 5.1 mil and soon to bow out.  Holding on to #5 and rounding off the weekend is The Bad Guys 2 with 3.7 mil and will also bow out soon.

New movies that did not make the top 5:

A couple this week... at #7 is Honey Don't with 3 mil to open on a semi-wide release.  Not a strong number but maybe they just needed to unload it.  At #10 is Relay with only 1.9 mil and also semi-wide with a poor opening performance.
