HOT!

This past week was full of craziness but let's start with the obvious, it got hot!  Our temperatures finally rose to Summer-like weather over the weekend.  What is crazy is the start of the week it was in the 60's and then it shot up to 99 degrees, some parts of SoCali in the 100's!  Does this mean the Summer is now started and the nice cold  Spring weather is over?  I hope not because since we didn't get any rain, we could at least stay cool to conserve water.  But going back to the start of the week, was up in Hollywood for a very special event.  At 98-years young, my auntie, Lisa Lu received her Hollywood Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!  Her star is at the iconic corner area of Hollywood and Vine.  Her star is not far from James Stewart which was one of her very first roles starting opposite of him.  But it was a fun filled full day and she seemed to have an great time and almost like an reunion for her with not only her real family but most of her Joy Luck Club family and some Crazy Rich Asians cast.  Well deserved, well over-due as well!

Weekly Update:

Mid-week was a bit of craziness for me! On Wednesday morning there was a knock at my door and it was my neighbors cleaning lady that comes once every two weeks.  Apparently my neighbor couldn't get out of bed but long story short, he had fallen in the course of the night (rolled off the bed) and his back was so bad and stomach.  But long story short, he finally agreed to go to the hospital on Friday afternoon and after a lot of tests and scans, he has a fracture on his 12th vertebrae!  So more tests are still needed to see how old this fracture may be.  Is it new, or an old injury that got worsened by the fall?  Unfortunately his daughters live in Kentucky and South Carolina with their own families but I think arrangements are being made for at least one of them to come out and also to figure what to do as it is likely surgery will be needed.  But trying to help as much as I can and keeping an eye on the house for now and visiting the neighbor in the hospital but wow, what a week.  My neighbor is also in his 80's and lives alone.  But the craziness of all this was the ER waiting... we got there around 4:30 PM and I left exactly at midnight!  We even had a two hour of gap of doing nothing but waiting for them to call us in... again.

At the movies:

Holding at #1 for a 2nd week is Thunderboltswith an extra 33.1 million and now over the 100 mil mark.  It may take awhile to get to 200 but current pace suggests it will get there over time.  Still doing well at #2 is Sinners with another 21.1 mil and just passed the 200 mil mark.  Word-of-mouth is definitely carrying this film further.  Maintaining at #3 is A Minecraft Movie with 7.9 mil as it now passes 400 mil domestic cume and from there, it will slowly fade out but excellent run!  Still at #4 is The Accountant 2 with 6.1 mil more and slowly running down.  New at #5 is Clown in a Cornfield with 3.7 mil for it's debut, not much else on this one so will disappear quickly.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just a couple this week, both in wide-release patterns too.  In at #6 is Shadow Force with 2 mil to open and it was so in the Shadows, no one saw it.  Less than $1000 per screen average too.  Right behind it at #7 if Fight or Flight with 2 mil and also under 1k per screen average, they won't be able to maintain those screens long.
