May the force be with you...

May 4th Edition

Though this will post on May 5th, it's only the day after.  What does May 4th mean?  It's more for those who are movie/TV fans but more specifically Star Wars.  A play on words from "May the force be with you" thus the words May the 4th, be with you and has been adapted because of that.  What does that phrase even mean?  Well, it is along the same lines as "Live long and prosper" from Star Trek.  Just a way of wishing someone good luck, safe journeys, good health, all the best, protect you and your family all rolled into one phrase.  Now the word force isn't meant to be like a force upon you as in you are forced to do something.  But more so a force of unknown or possibly spiritual energy that will guide, protect and you help you along the way.

Weekly Update:

I recently went to Jamba Juice and I don't go there very often anymore.  Back in the day I used to go any where from 4 to 5 times a week!  It was a nice alternative to a soda for my morning beverage but the cost of one has gone up so much plus the fact they are so high in sugars.  They seemed to have stopped using plain yogurt and non-dairy milks and replaced more drinks with various flavors of sherbet and frozen flavored yogurts which of course all contain sugar.  For the most part it's still a healthier alternative but now higher in sugars which I like to avoid if I can.  But, I did go back as I said because they offered me a 50% to return deal, how can you pass that up because it almost made it the same price I paid years ago (but still a tad high).  I mean I used to get them for about 3.95 for a large (without any coupon or deal) and now with 50% off it was 4.95 for a large.  So when I got my drink, it was not filled all the way!  They first put it in a regular cup and I said I had ordered a large and they replied, you did!  So they poured the regular into the large and the little that remained in the mixer...then poured that large into another large cup and I can't help to think of the waste that was left behind with each pour.  By the time I got it, there was almost a 1/2" gap from the lid to the drink... that is a lot missing.  I know I didn't pay full price but does that mean I don't get a full drink??

At the movies:

New at #1 this week is Thunderbolts* with a decent 76 million.  Not a bad number but expectations were probably a little higher, however we are coming off of Spring Break and pre-Summer.  Word-of-mouth is overall good on this film, should easily hit 100 mil by this weekend.  Drop down to #2 is Sinners with an extra 33 mil and very close to hitting the 200 mil mark, should get there in a few days.  Climbing back up a notch is A Minecraft Movie with 13.7 mil more and inches away from hitting 400 mil domestic cume.  Also should get that in the next day or two.  Dropping down to #4 is The Accountant 2 with 9.5 mil and doing OK overall but will be bumped out soon.  Rounding off the top 5 and holding is Until Dawn with 3.8 mil and will also fade out as soon as another movie is released.

New movies that did not make the top 5:

Just two this week as they are both limited runs (under 1,000 screens each).  In at #9 is HIT: The Third Case with 869k and will quickly lose screen counts with a low per screen average of just $1474.  At #10 is The Surfer with more screens but less box office earning 674k and only $763 per screen.
