Summer appears to never be over in Southern California.  I mean, that is if its based on weather rather than dates.  I am sure that would make for an interesting and different season calendar.  And what if we could change the seasons based on regions?  This way they could be more accurate and especially for travelers.  Let's go someplace for Summer, well you can go to Florida and California any time from like May to October!  Or hey, let's see some leaves change color for Fall ... OK, I have no idea where you would go for that in terms of dates but I am sure it's different from region to region.  Our leaves here never change color so we have no Fall to visit for.

Weekly Update:
I am so tired ... so the nights have been very nice to keep the windows open but not freezing.  However, living by a golf course and having coyotes around ... the dogs can hear them outside at times and will go nuts and start barking.  When they get in that mode, you can't tell them to be quiet and even if you physically grab them, they want to continue to bark at them because they get excited.  Not to mention you are in a sort of sleep state trying to get back to sleep!  I hate to keep the window closed, unless is too cold of course, but the fresh air is nice and comforting.  But they better hush!

At the movies:

The west rides into the #1 spot this week as The Magnificent Seven earns the crown with a solid 35 million.  Above expectations with OK reviews, could reach 100 mil cume.  New at #2 is the animated film Storks with 21.8 mil.  Slightly below expectations but the Summer season is over.  Slight drop to #3 is "Sully" earning another 13.8 mil and shy of 100 mil cume.  Should get there by the end of next weekend.  Dipping to #4 is "Bridget Jones's Baby" with another 4.5 mil and just about tapped out.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Snowden" earning 4.1 mil more and quickly burning out as well.

So the heat is coming!  Started to get hot again this week but the coming week it says a heat storm is coming with temperatures in the high 90's!  We're already past Summer (by date) and are in Fall yet it feels like the peak of Summer!!  I will never understand our weather pattern and I probably say this every year too.  But it is also a reminder that global warming is real and not some made up term or weird scientific propaganda.  It exists, plain and simple.  It doesn't mean if it didn't that it would still be hot but definitely would not be this extreme.  Our drought would not be as severe as it is.  Our water reserves would be better off, maybe have a bit more rain each year ... hard to say but again, would not be this bad.

Weekly Update:
So I was wondering, when did the Carl's Jr Six Dollar Burger cost $6 and more?  I though the whole idea of this burger was you were getting a restaurant quality burger which normally cost you six dollars but you are only paying half that.  I know the combos are more with the drink and fries but it looks like the burger themselves are around $5 to $7, with the whole 1/3 and 1/2 patties now.  When did Carl's consider themselves non-Fast Food and figured they were a restaurant?  I mean I like Carl's Jr and when I do go people are always very nice and attentive but let's be honest, you go there for a quick burger and out the door you go.  They taste good and above average quality but, its still fast food.

At the movies:
Still flying solo at #1 is "Sully" with another 22 million and now closing in at the 100 mil cume.  May get that in another week but solid award buzz on this film.  New at #2 is Blair Witch with 9.6 mil to open.  Slightly below expectations but not surprising either.  New at #3 is Bridget Jones's Baby with only 8.2 mil and well below all expectations.  The curiosity of what happened to her just wasn't there anymore.  New at #4 is Snowden with only 8 mil and close to expectations.  Not a lot of buzz surrounding this so could be a very quick burn.  Rounding off the top 5 is "Don't Breathe" with another 5.6 mil and will fall short of 100 mil but had a good run overall.

It's getting very warm in here ... ok, that would be a very poor hip hop song.  But it is getting warm again ... when is Fall suppose to start? I know it is in September ... ah ok, the 22nd.  Well, I guess that means we are still in Summer so this weather is acceptable ... curse you Summer, you have tricked me again!  This picture I found (to the left) is nice but what does it mean?!?  Why are their four different colors, what is that white stuff on the one, I see a sun, that is no surprise ... I see a desert yellow ... ok.  What is that green and white?  We have no seasons here in Southern California, its just one long season and we hope for cooler months or even days.  Some water from the sky is nice, need more of that desperately!!!

Weekly Update:
I think each week by week is getting more boring and boring for me.  Nothing is going on, just trying to stay cool and work.  Putting together small little projects but also trying to put together projects ... I mean it feels busy but not busy.  Or maybe I am just doing busy work?  I do look at three computer screens almost every day and I have a TV that is hooked up to a computer but not on ... I should swap that for my regular computer screen maybe.  I think it has better speakers so I could watch movies ... yeah, I should do that ... why didn't I do that before?  I am not on top of that.

At the movies:
Your in-flight entertainment is Sully as it earns top honors this weekend with a solid 35.5 million in its debut.  Above expectations and word-of-mouth is good on this film and definitely an award contender this season.  New at #2 is When the Bough Breaks with 15 mil and almost on-point with estimations.  Slight drop to #3 is "Don't Breathe" with another 8.2 mil and still doing well.  Also slight drop to #4 is "Suicide Squad" with an additional 5.7 mil and just over the 300 mil cume mark.  New and rounding off the top 5 is The Wild Life with only 3.4 mil and actually not that far off from expectations.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Just one wide release as The Disappointments Room clearly was correctly named.  Coming in at #17 with 1.4 mil and fell below expectations but honestly not by much.

Labor Day Edition

It was a semi-nice day but still a bit on the warm side.  Although not officially the end of Summer, it typically does signify Summer is over mostly with schools.  Back in the day I remember going back to school the Tuesday after the Labor Day Weekend but now, school's start any where from 2 to 3 weeks before this holiday.  School is work too!  Mental work and relaxing the brain is a good thing, no?  How times have changed but one thing that remains the same, traffic sucks the week after Labor Day.  I use to take that week off or arrange to work at home, people just do not know how to drive, at all!  Is it that difficult to get from home-to-work or school?  I suppose so but I guess the majority of the problem is freeway off-ramp traffic.  That gets backed up pretty far.  Post Labor Day week ... I hate you.

Weekly Updates:
Not a whole lot went on this past week worth remembering or I would have remembered it.  I just remember not sleeping a lot but that is pretty normal for me.  I think my brain is broken ... hey, I could use a Labor Day break!!!  I am just glad for months that have a least one 3-day weekends. Even if one weekend has it in the month, it still feels like a nice break for some reason.  Now if we can somehow manage that every other week!  Now that would be pretty awesome ... at least I think so.

At the movies:
Holding on to #1 for a 2nd weekend is "Don't Breathe" with another 15.7 million and now just over 50 mil cume.  On track to hit around 80 right now but also another sign that the Summer is clearly over.  Holding on to their #2 spot is "Suicide Squad" with another 10 mil and just shy of 300 mil cume.  It should get that in the next few days and will actually make it to be one of the top Summer movies of 2016.  Also holding at #3 is "Pete's Dragon" earning another 6.5 mil and quickly burning out.  Sticking at #4 is "Kubo and the Two Strings" also with 6.5 mil and about done as well.  Rounding off the top 5, rising up on the charts going wide is "Hell or High Water" earning 5.8 mil in its 4th week in limited release.  This little film has been climbing and should be a potential award runner.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Two this week ... up first is The Light Between Oceans only earning 4.7 mil and slightly below expectations coming in at #9.  Showing up at #17 is Morgan earning only 2 mil and also slightly below expectations but not surprisingly.
