So it looks like this blog program did some minor fixes over the past week. Now the save feature does both auto-save AND you can still hit the "save now" button to actually save the work. So I don't have to hit a random key on my blog page to get it to allow me to save or I can't exit. Confusing, yes but just know it is all fixed after I don't how many months it has been like this. I guess they are on the "baby-steps" program with this thing. At least that is something ... maybe I should complain about something else and see if they fix it next week??! Hmmm ... what to complain about ... Why aren't their personal jet packs so I can zoom to and from work?? WHY?!?!

Weekly Update:
Are the Olympics over? As the games came to a close Sunday in China, the US led the overall
medal count for these Olympic Games. With 110 overall medals (36 Gold, 38 Silver and 36 Bronze), it was the host country of China that walks away with the most Gold Medals (51 Gold, 100 total medals). Not since the 1992 Games has the US been beaten in the Gold Medal counts however, they still managed to beat their own total Medal record. The Soviet Union still holds the record for most Gold Medals from the 1955 Seoul, Korea games with 55 Gold Medals. A quick snapshot at the Medal race is US - 110, China - 100, Russia - 72, Britain - 47 and Australia with 46. Congratulations to all and see you in London for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

At the movies:

Comedy holds on to #1 again this week as "Tropic Thunder" earns another 16.1 million and also a sure sign that summer is over as the grosses start to show up much lower than before. New at #2 is
The House Bunny with 15.1 mil. Also new at #3 is the terrible remake Death Race with 12.3 mil. Why terrible? I think they casted fine but to make them prison inmates instead of a national race or just drivers like the original seems ... I don't know, maybe too much of a change. But I guess they needed to do that to make it more plausible for this day and age. Holding ground at #4 is "The Dark Knight" with another 10.3 mil and a cume now of just shy of 490 mil! With one more big holiday weekend coming up, 500 mil ... here it comes! Rounding off the top 5 this weekend is "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" with a big drop to 5.7 mil.

New movies that did not make the top 5:
Looks like we have a few as we clearly come to the end of summer. In at #8 is the MGM comedy
The Longshots with only 4.3 million. In at #12 (WOW!) is the rock and roll comedy The Rocker with only 2.8 mil and a 5-day total of 3.8 mil since it opened on a Wednesday ... VERY disappointing numbers for this cute little film.

Comment Response:
So had a few comments on the last couple of blogs, thanks! To answer the latest question was in regards to "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and what I didn't like about it. Well, the regular human-like people moved awkward and when shown close up, they looked wooden, almost like a marionette. I didn't care for the storyline with the Hutts and the personalities they gave all the robots who are suppose to be controlled by a central command. The ships, battle scenes and clone troopers were all very cool. But to me this was skewed VERY young where kids would enjoy it, families will enjoy but the die-hard fans will think its "ok" to "blah." Also those new to my blog, its a weekly blog posted every Monday. ENJOY!

Other News:
Yahoo posted this thing the other day about 15 of the coolest cars on film (or in the movies). I think I agree with most of it but a couple of cars ... really?! Let's take a look at the list (not in any particular order:

*2006 Ford Mustang GT from "Death Race" (2008) - its a nice car but I completely disagree with this pick.
*1968 390 GT V8 Ford Mustang from "Bullitt" (1968) - I am down with this pick.
*Wayne Industries Tumbler from "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" (2005/2008) - I do appreciate that they used the same car in both films were as the older films each car was different and that didn't make any sense to me ... I just don't see this "fantasy" car as a cool car that is real.
*1974 Dodge Monaco (pictured) from "The Blues Brothers" (1980) - HANDS DOWN agree with this pick.
*1963 Aston Martin DB5 from "Goldfinger", "Thunderball", "Goldeneye" and "Casino Royale" (1964, '65, '95, and 2006) - Agree, classic James Bond car.
*2009 Chevrolet Camero from "Transformers" (2007) - hmmm, future car but it was pretty sleek.

*1958 Plymouth Fury from "Christine" (1983) - yeah, total classic and made the car creepy at the same time.
*2002 Mini Cooper S from "The Italian Job" (2003) - classic, not really but they were kind of cool in the movie.
*1932 Ford Model B from "American Graffiti" (1973) - Another GREAT pick.
*1961 Ferrari 250 GT California (pictured) from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986) - Awesome pick as well.
*2002 Nissan 350Z Fairlady from "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" (2006) - WHY?? This shouldn't be on any list other than what not to put into a movie.
*1973 Volkswagen Type 2 "Transporter" from "Little Miss Sunshine" (2006) - not really a
classic car but mixed with this movie, I would agree with the pick.
*1963 Model 117 Volkswagen Type 1 "Beetle" Deluxe from "Herbie: Fully Loaded" (2005) - It's ok, the original Herbie car would have been a better pick.
*1970 Dodge Challenger R/T from "Grindhouse: Death Proof" and "Vanishing Point" (2007 and 1971) - not really a classic or cool car for me.
*DeLorean DMC-12 (pictured) from "Back to the Future Part I, Part II and Part III" (1985, '89, and '90) - Definitely one of the cool cars on film!

A couple of cars I would have liked to see on this list include the Ford Falcon Interceptor from "Mad Max," 1959 Cadillac Ecto-1 from "Ghostbusters," 1976 AMC Pacer from "Wayne's World," and the Ford LTD Country Squire Station Wagon from "National Lampoon's Vacation."

I have to say this blog site ... sucks. It does a lot of stupid annoying things like double spaces all my work after I save it, leave, then come back. What is the deal with that?? That is just the latest problem as it still auto saves (which is fine) but after it does that you can't save it without typing something in if you want to leave. What I mean by that is if it auto saves, you decide to exit out, well the work will be gone because the auto save does squat!! It only REALLY saves if you hit the save button and that of course works about 90% of the time ... 90 is good but it should be 100%!!! Google sucks.

Weekly Update:
So we have gone through a second weekend of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China and there is just under a week left before it all comes to an end till 2012. One of the big stories is the remarkable swimmer Michael Phelps who now holds not only many swimming world records but also for most Gold Medals in one Olympic year by a US athlete (formerly held by fellow American Mark Spitz from the 1972 Munich games with 7 Gold Medals). Phelps has tied with USSR gymnast Alexander Dityatin for most medals by any athlete in a single Olympics (1980). Phelps does currently hold the record for most Olympic Gold Medals with a career tally of 14, making him the most successful Olympian to date.

At the movies:
No surprise here as the movie about making a movie, Tropic Thunder takes the box office crown with an opening weekend of 26 million. Holding strong yet again is "The Dark Knight" with an extra 16.8 mil and a cume now of over 470 mil. New at #3 is Star Wars: The Clone Wars with 15.5 mil. This animated disappointment will probably hit DVD and TV by Thanksgiving, no doubt in time for more home sales. In at #4 is the horror suspense Mirrors with 11.1 mil. Rounding off the top 5 is "Pineapple Express" with 10 mil.

Other News:
It seems as of late the attention from Iraq has been drawn away with so many domestic problems, the upcoming election and the Olympics not only on the US but the world radar. This past weekend some sectarian violence broke out in a small northwestern town and has been seeing much violence since last April. I think another thing that has shifted our attention away from this kind of thing is also the on-going issue with gas prices and how its effecting our economy not to mention all the real estate issues ... I am sure Bush is loving it and since he is a lame duck anyway, why not spend time at the Olympics and enjoy yourself will your country is falling apart. Honestly, I am sure almost anyone would do the same thing if they only had a few months left at the job anyway. But there is some good news ... if you can call it good. In June, the US death toll in Iraq per day was down to one per day instead of the normal two to three! In July it was down to one every two days however currently in August it is back up to one per day. Those numbers are sadly very good to hear because around this time last year it was close to four US Soldiers killed per day.

What a big day for news, or weekend I should say. Just to highlight a couple of stories (with another big one in the "Other News" section), the 2008 XXIX Olympics have started in Beijing, China. Already day one is scarred by a killing of the father of former 2004 volleyball Olympian Elisabeth Bachman. While visiting the sites, a man jumped out and stabbed the father multiple times, injury the wife with life-threatening wounds and also injuring the tour guide. In the country of Georgia (Russia), fighting broke out and roughly 1,500 soldiers and civilians have been killed. Russian tanks and troops hit the separatist province of South Ossetia and the death toll figures are unconfirmed.

Weekly Update:
I had my first full week at the new job, overall was pretty good. Still settling in and working out some computer issues but that will be all working in no time. The work environment is WAY better and it is not crazy at all. Not that I mind crazy but I like productive-crazy and not drama-crazy. Drama-crazy is just stupid and has no point or purpose plus it does nothing but create unneeded stress and work is created upon work. With productive-crazy you are just busy but things are getting done and at the end of the day you know you either finished something with quality or substance ... or both even. But this is just week one and it is more getting settled in and learning new ropes, it's good.

At the movies:
No surprise here as "The Dark Knight" takes the box office crown once again with an extra 26.0 million. This movie is now in its 4th week and has earned over 440 mill cume! I do see a 500 mil domestic total in its future and will be the biggest hit of this summer. New at #2 is the stoner comedy Pineapple Express with a nice sum of 22.4 mil ... pretty much what I expected. Holding some ground at #3 is "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" with another 16.1 mil. New at #4 is Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 with 10.8 mil. Rounding off the top 5 is "Step Brothers" with an extra 8.9 mil.

Other News:
Very sad news hits us this weekend as comedian, film and TV star Bernie Mac passed away on Saturday morning. Due to complications with pneumonia and an on-off fight with sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease, he passed away at a hospital in Chicago. Bernie probably most remembered as of late for his re-occurring role in the hit film franchise "Ocean's Eleven" and most recently for the box office summer hit of 2007 "Transformers" playing the role of the used car salesman that sold Bumblebee. Bernie was also one of the original Kings of Comedy with Steve Harvey selling out stadiums of fans for his stand-up routine. Not to be downplayed was his hit TV show, "The Bernie Mac Show" which earned him a prestigious Peabody Award for the sitcom. Truly a great entertainer and comedian that the world will miss, he was 50.

ALSO! Song legend Isaac Hayes was pronounced dead on Sunday in Memphis at the Baptist East Hospital after a family member found him. Hayes best known as of late for his baritone voice as Chef in "South Park" but also credited for laying down the groundwork for disco. Hayes also won both the Grammy and Oscar for his theme to the movie "Shaft" in 1971. Cause of death is unknown at this time, Hayes was 65.

So it seems as if hurricane season is upon us as the southern regions of the US are starting to get hit. Currently a hurricane watch in western Louisiana and eastern Texas are on alert ... it seems as if no matter where you live, you will have some natural disaster potential. West coast we have earthquakes, east coast is massive snowstorms and thunder showers. In the mid-west there are tornadoes and in the south are hurricanes. I guess it just depends on what you are able to put up with.

Weekly Update:
Well compared to the previous week, this past week was a breeze!! It was a very sad week though as Friday was my last day at Fox. On a good note the problem I have been having lately wasn't around but on the sad part is that it was my last day and I did love working on the lot and with all the various departments. For the most part (I would say 80%) I loved what I did but unfortunately the little part did over-shadow everything else not to mention things are bound to only get worse there. So I picked up the last of my things and said my "so long for now" as I will always be in touch with everyone there ... except maybe one if I can avoid it. Not sure what is going to happen there but I do wish them all the best of luck ... they are going to need it.

At the movies:
Yet another winning week for "The Dark Knight" as it takes #1 spot for the 3rd week in a row. Earning another 44 mil and now JUST shy of 400 mil cume! No doubt by the end of this week it will be well into 400+. New at #2 and expected is The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor earns a hefty 42.5 mil. Stepping in at #3 is "Step Brothers" with another 16.3 mil. Holding strong at #4 is "Mamma Mia" with another 13.1 mil and will no doubt hit the 100 mil mark when its done. Rounding off the top 5 is "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D" with another 6.9 mil! I still can't believe this movie is in the top 5!!

New movies that did not make the top 5: Looks like just one this week as the Swing Vote comes in at #6 with only 6.3 mil and the race is over for this one.
